Galatians 5

KJV 1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. ESV 1 For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. KJV 2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. ESV 2 Look: I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you. KJV 3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. ESV 3 I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law. KJV 4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. ESV 4 You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace. KJV 5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. ESV 5 For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness. KJV 6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. ESV 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love. KJV 7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? ESV 7 You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? KJV 8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. ESV 8 This persuasion is not from him who calls you. KJV 9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. ESV 9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump. KJV 10 I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be. ESV 10 I have confidence in the Lord that you will take no other view than mine, and the one who is troubling you will bear the penalty, whoever he is. KJV 11 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased. ESV 11 But if I, brothers, still preach circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed. KJV 12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you. ESV 12 I wish those who unsettle you would emasculate themselves! KJV 13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. ESV 13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. KJV 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. ESV 14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." KJV 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. ESV 15 But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another. KJV 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. ESV 16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. KJV 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. ESV 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. KJV 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. ESV 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. KJV 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, ESV 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, KJV 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, ESV 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, KJV 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. ESV 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. KJV 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, ESV 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, KJV 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. ESV 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. KJV 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. ESV 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. KJV 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. ESV 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. KJV 26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. ESV 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
