Hebrews 3

CEB 1 Therefore, brothers and sisters who are partners in the heavenly calling, think about Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession. NRS 1 Therefore, brothers and sisters, holy partners in a heavenly calling, consider that Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession, CEB 2 Jesus was faithful to the one who appointed him just like Moses was faithful in God's house. NRS 2 was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses also "was faithful in all God's house." CEB 3 But he deserves greater glory than Moses in the same way that the builder of the house deserves more honor than the house itself. NRS 3 Yet Jesus is worthy of more glory than Moses, just as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself. CEB 4 Every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. NRS 4 (For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.) CEB 5 Moses was faithful in all God's house as a servant in order to affirm the things that would be spoken later. NRS 5 Now Moses was faithful in all God's house as a servant, to testify to the things that would be spoken later. CEB 6 But Jesus was faithful over God's house as a Son. We are his house if we hold on to the confidence and the pride that our hope gives us. NRS 6 Christ, however, was faithful over God's house as a son, and we are his house if we hold firm the confidence and the pride that belong to hope. CEB 7 So, as the Holy Spirit says, Today, if you hear his voice, NRS 7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, "Today, if you hear his voice, CEB 8 don't have stubborn hearts as they did in the rebellion, on the day when they tested me in the desert. NRS 8 do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, as on the day of testing in the wilderness, CEB 9 That is where your ancestors challenged and tested me, though they had seen my work for forty years. NRS 9 where your ancestors put me to the test, though they had seen my works CEB 10 So I was angry with them. I said, "Their hearts always go off course, and they don't know my ways." NRS 10 for forty years. Therefore I was angry with that generation, and I said, "They always go astray in their hearts, and they have not known my ways.' CEB 11 Because of my anger I swore: "They will never enter my rest!" NRS 11 As in my anger I swore, "They will not enter my rest.' " CEB 12 Watch out, brothers and sisters, so that none of you have an evil, unfaithful heart that abandons the living God. NRS 12 Take care, brothers and sisters, that none of you may have an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. CEB 13 Instead, encourage each other every day, as long as it's called "today," so that none of you become insensitive to God because of sin's deception. NRS 13 But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called "today," so that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. CEB 14 We are partners with Christ, but only if we hold on to the confidence we had in the beginning until the end. NRS 14 For we have become partners of Christ, if only we hold our first confidence firm to the end. CEB 15 When it says, Today, if you hear his voice, don't have stubborn hearts as they did in the rebellion. NRS 15 As it is said, "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion." CEB 16 Who was it who rebelled when they heard his voice? Wasn't it all of those who were brought out of Egypt by Moses? NRS 16 Now who were they who heard and yet were rebellious? Was it not all those who left Egypt under the leadership of Moses? CEB 17 And with whom was God angry for forty years? Wasn't it with the ones who sinned, whose bodies fell in the desert? NRS 17 But with whom was he angry forty years? Was it not those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? CEB 18 And against whom did he swear that they would never enter his rest, if not against the ones who were disobedient? NRS 18 And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, if not to those who were disobedient? CEB 19 We see that they couldn't enter because of their lack of faith. NRS 19 So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.
