Jeremiah 45

NRSA 1 The word that the prophet Jeremiah spoke to Baruch son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a scroll at the dictation of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of King Jehoiakim son of Josiah of Judah: NIV 1 When Baruch son of Neriah wrote on a scroll the words Jeremiah the prophet dictated in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, Jeremiah said this to Baruch: NRSA 2 Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, to you, O Baruch: NIV 2 “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch: NRSA 3 You said, "Woe is me! The Lord has added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest." NIV 3 You said, ‘Woe to me! The LORD has added sorrow to my pain; I am worn out with groaning and find no rest.’ NRSA 4 Thus you shall say to him, "Thus says the Lord: I am going to break down what I have built, and pluck up what I have planted—that is, the whole land. NIV 4 But the LORD has told me to say to you, ‘This is what the LORD says: I will overthrow what I have built and uproot what I have planted, throughout the earth. NRSA 5 And you, do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for I am going to bring disaster upon all flesh, says the Lord; but I will give you your life as a prize of war in every place to which you may go." NIV 5 Should you then seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them. For I will bring disaster on all people, declares the LORD, but wherever you go I will let you escape with your life.’ ”
