KJV 1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. NIV 1 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. KJV 2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. NIV 2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. KJV 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: NIV 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. KJV 4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. NIV 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. KJV 5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. NIV 5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. KJV 6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. NIV 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. KJV 7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. NIV 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” KJV 8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. NIV 8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. KJV 9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying,All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. NIV 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. KJV 10 Then said Jesus unto them,Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me. NIV 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” KJV 11 Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done. NIV 11 While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. KJV 12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, NIV 12 When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, KJV 13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. NIV 13 telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ KJV 14 And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. NIV 14 If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” KJV 15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day. NIV 15 So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day. KJV 16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. NIV 16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. KJV 17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. NIV 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. KJV 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying,All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. NIV 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. KJV 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: NIV 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, KJV 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. NIV 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
