Psalm 28

RSVA 1 A Psalm of David. To thee, O LORD, I call; my rock, be not deaf to me, lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like those who go down to the Pit. NIV 1 To you, LORD, I call; you are my Rock, do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I will be like those who go down to the pit. RSVA 2 Hear the voice of my supplication, as I cry to thee for help, as I lift up my hands toward thy most holy sanctuary. NIV 2 Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place. RSVA 3 Take me not off with the wicked, with those who are workers of evil, who speak peace with their neighbors, while mischief is in their hearts. NIV 3 Do not drag me away with the wicked, with those who do evil, who speak cordially with their neighbors but harbor malice in their hearts. RSVA 4 Requite them according to their work, and according to the evil of their deeds; requite them according to the work of their hands; render them their due reward. NIV 4 Repay them for their deeds and for their evil work; repay them for what their hands have done and bring back on them what they deserve. RSVA 5 Because they do not regard the works of the LORD, or the work of his hands, he will break them down and build them up no more. NIV 5 Because they have no regard for the deeds of the LORDand what his hands have done, he will tear them down and never build them up again. RSVA 6 Blessed be the LORD! for he has heard the voice of my supplications. NIV 6 Praise be to the LORD, for he has heard my cry for mercy. RSVA 7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts; so I am helped, and my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. NIV 7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. RSVA 8 The LORD is the strength of his people, he is the saving refuge of his anointed. NIV 8 The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. RSVA 9 O save thy people, and bless thy heritage; be thou their shepherd, and carry them for ever. NIV 9 Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever.
