Psalm 4

YLT 1 To the Overseer with Stringed Instruments. -- A Psalm of David. In my calling answer Thou me, O God of my righteousness. In adversity Thou gavest enlargement to me; Favour me, and hear my prayer. NIV 1 Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer. YLT 2 Sons of men! till when [is] my glory for shame? Ye love a vain thing, ye seek a lie. Selah. NIV 2 How long will you people turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods YLT 3 And know ye that Jehovah Hath separated a saintly one to Himself. Jehovah heareth in my calling to Him. NIV 3 Know that the LORD has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him. YLT 4 `Tremble ye, and do not sin;' Say ye [thus] in your heart on your bed, And be ye silent. Selah. NIV 4 Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. YLT 5 Sacrifice ye sacrifices of righteousness, And trust ye unto Jehovah. NIV 5 Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the LORD. YLT 6 Many are saying, `Who doth show us good?' Lift on us the light of Thy face, O Jehovah, NIV 6 Many, LORD, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?” Let the light of your face shine on us. YLT 7 Thou hast given joy in my heart, From the time their corn and their wine Have been multiplied. NIV 7 Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound. YLT 8 In peace together I lie down and sleep, For Thou, O Jehovah, alone, In confidence dost cause me to dwell! NIV 8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.
