Colossians 3

NIV

HNV

1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
1 If then you were raised together with Messiah, seek the things that are above, where Messiah is, seated on the right hand of God.
2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
2 Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the eretz.
3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Messiah in God.
4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
4 When Messiah, our life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with him in glory.
5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
5 Put to death therefore your members which are on the eretz: sexual immorality, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry;
6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.
6 for which things' sake the wrath of God comes on the sons of disobedience.
7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.
7 You also once walked in those, when you lived in them;
8 But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
8 but now you also put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and shameful speaking out of your mouth.
9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices
9 Don't lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings,
10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
10 and have put on the new man, that is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator,
11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.
11 where there can't be Yevanit and Yehudi, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondservant, freeman; but Messiah is all, and in all.
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
12 Put on therefore, as God's elect, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance;
13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Messiah forgave you, so you also do.
14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
14 Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
15 And let the shalom of Messiah rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
16 Let the word of Messiah dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to God.
17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
17 Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Yeshua, giving thanks to God, the Father, through him.
18 Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
18 Wives, be in subjection to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
19 Husbands, love your wives, and don't be bitter against them.
20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this pleases the Lord.
21 Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.
21 Fathers, don't provoke your children, so that they won't be discouraged.
22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord.
22 Servants, obey in all things those who are your masters according to the flesh, not just when they are looking, as men-pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing God.
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,
23 And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men,
24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord, Messiah.
25 Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.
25 For he who does wrong will receive again for the wrong that he has done, and there is no partiality.
