Ezekiel 11

JUB 1 And the Spirit lifted me up and brought me through the east gate of the LORD’s house, which looks eastward; and behold at the entrance of the gate twenty-five men; among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people. NIV 1 Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the gate of the house of the LORD that faces east. There at the entrance of the gate were twenty-five men, and I saw among them Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, leaders of the people. JUB 2 Then said he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise mischief and give wicked counsel in this city: NIV 2 The LORD said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who are plotting evil and giving wicked advice in this city. JUB 3 who say, It is not near; let us build houses; these shall be the caldron, and we the flesh. NIV 3 They say, ‘Haven’t our houses been recently rebuilt? This city is a pot, and we are the meat in it.’ JUB 4 Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man. NIV 4 Therefore prophesy against them; prophesy, son of man.” JUB 5 And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me and said unto me, Say: Thus hath the LORD said, Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I have understood the things that come up into your spirit. NIV 5 Then the Spirit of the LORD came on me, and he told me to say: “This is what the LORD says: That is what you are saying, you leaders in Israel, but I know what is going through your mind. JUB 6 Ye have multiplied your slain in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain. NIV 6 You have killed many people in this city and filled its streets with the dead. JUB 7 Therefore thus hath the Lord GOD said; Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and it is the caldron; but I will bring you forth out of the midst of it. NIV 7 “Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: The bodies you have thrown there are the meat and this city is the pot, but I will drive you out of it. JUB 8 Ye have feared the sword, and I will bring a sword upon you, said the Lord GOD. NIV 8 You fear the sword, and the sword is what I will bring against you, declares the Sovereign LORD. JUB 9 And I will bring you out of the midst thereof and deliver you into the hands of strangers and will execute judgments in you. NIV 9 I will drive you out of the city and deliver you into the hands of foreigners and inflict punishment on you. JUB 10 Ye shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the border of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. NIV 10 You will fall by the sword, and I will execute judgment on you at the borders of Israel. Then you will know that I am the LORD. JUB 11 This city shall not be your caldron, neither shall ye be the flesh in the midst thereof; but I must judge you in the border of Israel: NIV 11 This city will not be a pot for you, nor will you be the meat in it; I will execute judgment on you at the borders of Israel. JUB 12 And ye shall know that I am the LORD; for ye have not walked in my statutes, neither have ye acted according to my judgments, but according to the judgments of the Gentiles that are round about you. NIV 12 And you will know that I am the LORD, for you have not followed my decrees or kept my laws but have conformed to the standards of the nations around you.” JUB 13 And it came to pass, as I was prophesying that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then I fell down upon my face and cried with a loud voice and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel? NIV 13 Now as I was prophesying, Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. Then I fell facedown and cried out in a loud voice, “Alas, Sovereign LORD! Will you completely destroy the remnant of Israel?” JUB 14 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, NIV 14 The word of the LORD came to me: JUB 15 Son of man, thy brethren, even thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel together, are they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from the LORD; unto us is this land given in possession. NIV 15 “Son of man, the people of Jerusalem have said of your fellow exiles and all the other Israelites, ‘They are far away from the LORD; this land was given to us as our possession.’ JUB 16 Therefore say, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Although I have cast them far off among the Gentiles and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet I will be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come. NIV 16 “Therefore say: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Although I sent them far away among the nations and scattered them among the countries, yet for a little while I have been a sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone.’ JUB 17 Therefore say, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: I will even gather you from the peoples, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel. NIV 17 “Therefore say: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will gather you from the nations and bring you back from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you back the land of Israel again.’ JUB 18 And they shall come there, and they shall remove all her contaminations and all her abominations from her. NIV 18 “They will return to it and remove all its vile images and detestable idols. JUB 19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh and will give them a heart of flesh: NIV 19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. JUB 20 that they may walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and fulfil them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. NIV 20 Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God. JUB 21 But as for those whose heart walks after the desire of their contaminations and of their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, said the Lord GOD. NIV 21 But as for those whose hearts are devoted to their vile images and detestable idols, I will bring down on their own heads what they have done, declares the Sovereign LORD.” JUB 22 Then the cherubim lifted up their wings and the wheels after them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above. NIV 22 Then the cherubim, with the wheels beside them, spread their wings, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them. JUB 23 And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city. NIV 23 The glory of the LORD went up from within the city and stopped above the mountain east of it. JUB 24 Afterwards the Spirit took me up and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into the land of the Chaldeans to the captives. So the vision that I had seen went up from me. NIV 24 The Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the exiles in Babylonia in the vision given by the Spirit of God. Then the vision I had seen went up from me, JUB 25 Then I spoke unto the captives all the words of the LORD that he had showed me. NIV 25 and I told the exiles everything the LORD had shown me.
