Ezekiel 43

JUB

NIV

1 Afterward he brought me to the gate, <em>even</em> the gate that looks toward the east:
1 Then the man brought me to the gate facing east,
2 And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel that was coming from the east; and his noise <em>was</em> like the noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory.
2 and I saw the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east. His voice was like the roar of rushing waters, and the land was radiant with his glory.
3 And <em>it was</em> according to the appearance of the vision which I saw, <em>even</em> according to the vision that I saw when I came to destroy the city; and the visions <em>were</em> like the vision that I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell upon my face.
3 The vision I saw was like the vision I had seen when he came to destroy the city and like the visions I had seen by the Kebar River, and I fell facedown.
4 And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate facing toward the east.
4 The glory of the LORD entered the temple through the gate facing east.
5 So the Spirit took me up and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house.
5 Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.
6 And I heard <em>him</em> speaking unto me out of the house; and the man stood by me.
6 While the man was standing beside me, I heard someone speaking to me from inside the temple.
7 And he said unto me, Son of man, <em>this is</em> the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, in which I will dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel for ever, and my holy name, the house of Israel shall no longer defile, <em>neither</em> they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcasses of their kings in their altars.
7 He said: “Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place for the soles of my feet. This is where I will live among the Israelites forever. The people of Israel will never again defile my holy name—neither they nor their kings—by their prostitution and the funeral offerings for their kings at their death.
8 In their setting of their threshold by my threshold, and their post by my post, and <em>a</em> wall between me and them, they have even defiled my holy name by their abominations that they have committed; therefore I have consumed them in my anger.
8 When they placed their threshold next to my threshold and their doorposts beside my doorposts, with only a wall between me and them, they defiled my holy name by their detestable practices. So I destroyed them in my anger.
9 Now let them put away their whoredom, and the carcasses of their kings, far from me, and I will dwell in the midst of them for ever.
9 Now let them put away from me their prostitution and the funeral offerings for their kings, and I will live among them forever.
10 Thou son of man, show this house to the house of Israel that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and let them understand the pattern.
10 “Son of man, describe the temple to the people of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their sins. Let them consider its perfection,
11 And if they are ashamed of all that they have done, show them the form of the house, and its pattern, and the goings out thereof, and the comings in thereof, and all its figures, and all its descriptions, and all its paintings, and all its laws; and write <em>it</em> in their sight that they may keep the whole form thereof and all the ordinances thereof and do them.
11 and if they are ashamed of all they have done, make known to them the design of the temple—its arrangement, its exits and entrances—its whole design and all its regulations and laws. Write these down before them so that they may be faithful to its design and follow all its regulations.
12 This <em>is</em> the law of the house; Upon the top of the mountain <em>it shall be built</em>; the whole limit thereof round about <em>shall be</em> most holy. Behold, this <em>is</em> the law of the house.
12 “This is the law of the temple: All the surrounding area on top of the mountain will be most holy. Such is the law of the temple.
13 And these <em>are</em> the measures of the altar in cubits: The cubit <em>is</em> a cubit and a hand breadth; the middle <em>rim</em>, one cubit, and the breadth a cubit, and the border thereof by the edge thereof round about of a span. This shall be the high bottom of the altar.
13 “These are the measurements of the altar in long cubits, that cubit being a cubit and a handbreadth: Its gutter is a cubit deep and a cubit wide, with a rim of one span around the edge. And this is the height of the altar:
14 And from the middle <em>rim</em> of the ground <em>even</em> to the lower settle, two cubits, and the breadth one cubit; and from the lesser settle to the greater settle, four cubits, and the breadth a cubit.
14 From the gutter on the ground up to the lower ledge that goes around the altar it is two cubits high, and the ledge is a cubit wide. From this lower ledge to the upper ledge that goes around the altar it is four cubits high, and that ledge is also a cubit wide.
15 So the altar, of four cubits; and above the altar, four horns.
15 Above that, the altar hearth is four cubits high, and four horns project upward from the hearth.
16 And the altar <em>was</em> twelve <em>cubits</em> long, twelve broad, square on its four sides.
16 The altar hearth is square, twelve cubits long and twelve cubits wide.
17 And the patio <em>was</em> fourteen <em>cubits</em> long and fourteen broad on all four sides; and the border about it <em>was</em> half a cubit; and the middle which had a <em>rim</em> of a cubit on all sides; and its stairs were toward the east.
17 The upper ledge also is square, fourteen cubits long and fourteen cubits wide. All around the altar is a gutter of one cubit with a rim of half a cubit. The steps of the altar face east.”
18 And he said unto me, Son of man, thus hath the Lord GOD said: These <em>are</em> the ordinances of the altar in the day when they shall make it, to offer burnt offerings thereon, and to sprinkle blood thereon.
18 Then he said to me, “Son of man, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: These will be the regulations for sacrificing burnt offerings and splashing blood against the altar when it is built:
19 And thou shalt give to the priests the Levites that be of the seed of Zadok, which approach unto me, to minister unto me, said the Lord GOD, a young bullock as sin.
19 You are to give a young bull as a sin offering to the Levitical priests of the family of Zadok, who come near to minister before me, declares the Sovereign LORD.
20 And thou shalt take of its blood and put <em>it</em> on the four horns of <em>the altar</em> and on the four corners of the patio and upon the border round about: thus shalt thou remove the sin and reconcile it.
20 You are to take some of its blood and put it on the four horns of the altar and on the four corners of the upper ledge and all around the rim, and so purify the altar and make atonement for it.
21 Then thou shalt take the bullock of the sin and burn it according to the law of the house, outside the sanctuary.
21 You are to take the bull for the sin offering and burn it in the designated part of the temple area outside the sanctuary.
22 And on the second day thou shalt offer a he goat without blemish as sin; and they shall remove the sin from the altar, as they removed <em>it</em> with the bullock.
22 “On the second day you are to offer a male goat without defect for a sin offering, and the altar is to be purified as it was purified with the bull.
23 When thou hast finished removing the sin, thou shalt offer a young bullock without blemish and a ram out of the flock without blemish.
23 When you have finished purifying it, you are to offer a young bull and a ram from the flock, both without defect.
24 And thou shalt offer them before the LORD, and the priests shall cast salt upon them, and they shall offer them up <em>for</em> a burnt offering unto the LORD.
24 You are to offer them before the LORD, and the priests are to sprinkle salt on them and sacrifice them as a burnt offering to the LORD.
25 Seven days shalt thou prepare each day a he goat as sin; and a young bullock and a ram out of the flock, without blemish, shall they sacrifice.
25 “For seven days you are to provide a male goat daily for a sin offering; you are also to provide a young bull and a ram from the flock, both without defect.
26 Seven days shall they atone the altar, and they shall cleanse it; and they shall extend their hands.
26 For seven days they are to make atonement for the altar and cleanse it; thus they will dedicate it.
27 And when these days are expired, it shall be, <em>that</em> upon the eighth day, and <em>so</em> forward, the priests shall sacrifice your burnt offerings upon the altar, and your peace offerings; and I will accept you, said the Lord GOD.
27 At the end of these days, from the eighth day on, the priests are to present your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings on the altar. Then I will accept you, declares the Sovereign LORD.”
