Ezekiel 48

NLT

CEB

1 “Here is the list of the tribes of Israel and the territory each is to receive. The territory of Dan is in the extreme north. Its boundary line follows the Hethlon road to Lebo-hamath and then runs on to Hazar-enan on the border of Damascus, with Hamath to the north. Dan’s territory extends all the way across the land of Israel from east to west.
1 These are the tribes' names: Beginning at the north, along the Hethlon road from Lebo-hamath to Hazar-enon, the boundary of Damascus with Hamath to the north, from the eastern border to the western border: Dan, one portion.
2 “Asher’s territory lies south of Dan’s and also extends from east to west.
2 Along the boundary of Dan from the eastern border to the western border: Asher, one portion.
3 Naphtali’s land lies south of Asher’s, also extending from east to west.
3 Along the boundary of Asher from the eastern border to the western border: Naphtali, one portion.
4 Then comes Manasseh south of Naphtali, and its territory also extends from east to west.
4 Along the boundary of Naphtali from the eastern border to the western border: Manasseh, one portion.
5 South of Manasseh is Ephraim,
5 Along the boundary of Manasseh from the eastern border to the western border: Ephraim, one portion.
6 and then Reuben,
6 Along the boundary of Ephraim from the eastern border to the western border: Reuben, one portion.
7 and then Judah, all of whose boundaries extend from east to west.
7 Along the boundary of Reuben from the eastern border to the western border: Judah, one portion.
8 “South of Judah is the land set aside for a special purpose. It will be 8 miles wide and will extend as far east and west as the tribal territories, with the Temple at the center.
8 Along the boundary of Judah from the eastern border to the western border will be the portion that you will set aside, 7.1 miles wide and the length of a tribal portion from the eastern border to the western border. The sanctuary is in its center.
9 “The area set aside for the LORD ’s Temple will be 8 miles long and 6 miles wide.
9 The portion that you will set aside for the LORD will be 7.1 miles long and 5.68 miles wide.
10 For the priests there will be a strip of land measuring 8 miles long by 3 miles wide, with the LORD ’s Temple at the center.
10 These measurements define the holy portion for the priests: along the north, a length of 7.1 miles; along the west, a width of 2.84 miles; along the east, a width of 2.84 miles; and along the south, a length of 7.1 miles. The LORD's sanctuary is in its center.
11 This area is set aside for the ordained priests, the descendants of Zadok who served me faithfully and did not go astray with the people of Israel and the rest of the Levites.
11 This holy area is for the Zadokite priests who kept my charge and didn't stray as the Levites did when the house of Israel strayed away from me.
12 It will be their special portion when the land is distributed, the most sacred land of all. Next to the priests’ territory will lie the land where the other Levites will live.
12 It belongs to them as a most special portion of the land, a most holy place, up to the border of the Levites.
13 “The land allotted to the Levites will be the same size and shape as that belonging to the priests—8 miles long and 3 miles wide. Together these portions of land will measure 8 miles long by 6 miles wide.
13 The Levites' allotment is next to the boundary of the priests, a length of 7.1 miles and a width of 2.84 miles. The entire length is 7.1 miles and the width 2.84 miles.
14 None of this special land may ever be sold or traded or used by others, for it belongs to the LORD ; it is set apart as holy.
14 None of it will be sold, exchanged, or transferred. It is the choicest land, because it is holy to the LORD.
15 “An additional strip of land 8 miles long by 1 miles wide, south of the sacred Temple area, will be allotted for public use—homes, pasturelands, and common lands, with a city at the center.
15 The remaining area, 1.42 miles wide and 7.1 miles long, is for ordinary use for the city, for residences, and for pastures. The city will be in the middle of it.
16 The city will measure 1 miles on each side—north, south, east, and west.
16 It measures 1.28 miles on its northern border, 1.28 miles on its southern border, 1.28 miles on its eastern border, and 1.28 miles on its western border.
17 Open lands will surround the city for 150 yards in every direction.
17 There will be pastures for the city, three hundred seventy-five feet on the north side, three hundred seventy-five feet on the south side, three hundred seventy-five feet on the east side, and three hundred seventy-five feet on the west side.
18 Outside the city there will be a farming area that stretches 3 miles to the east and 3 miles to the west along the border of the sacred area. This farmland will produce food for the people working in the city.
18 The remaining area alongside the holy portion is 2.84 miles on the east and 2.84 miles on the west. These areas that adjoin the holy portion will produce the food for the city's workers.
19 Those who come from the various tribes to work in the city may farm it.
19 The city's workers from every tribe of Israel will farm it.
20 This entire area—including the sacred lands and the city—is a square that measures 8 miles on each side.
20 The entire portion that you will set aside is 7.1 miles by 7.1 miles, a square; it includes the holy portion in addition to the city property.
21 “The areas that remain, to the east and to the west of the sacred lands and the city, will belong to the prince. Each of these areas will be 8 miles wide, extending in opposite directions to the eastern and western borders of Israel, with the sacred lands and the sanctuary of the Temple in the center.
21 What is left on both sides of the holy portion and the city property belongs to the prince. The land from the edge of the portion of 7.1 miles, to the eastern boundary, and on the western edge of the 7.1 miles to the western boundary, belongs to the prince. It corresponds to one tribal portion. The holy portion and the temple sanctuary are in the middle of it,
22 So the prince’s land will include everything between the territories allotted to Judah and Benjamin, except for the areas set aside for the sacred lands and the city.
22 but what belongs to the prince is separate from both the levitical property and the city property. The prince's territory will be between the boundary of Judah and the boundary of Benjamin.
23 “These are the territories allotted to the rest of the tribes. Benjamin’s territory lies just south of the prince’s lands, and it extends across the entire land of Israel from east to west.
23 Now for the rest of the tribes: From the eastern border to the western border: Benjamin, one portion.
24 South of Benjamin’s territory lies that of Simeon, also extending across the land from east to west.
24 Along the boundary of Benjamin from the eastern border to the western border: Simeon, one portion.
25 Next is the territory of Issachar with the same eastern and western boundaries.
25 Along the boundary of Simeon from the eastern border to the western border: Issachar, one portion.
26 “Then comes the territory of Zebulun, which also extends across the land from east to west.
26 Along the boundary of Issachar from the eastern border to the western border: Zebulun, one portion.
27 The territory of Gad is just south of Zebulun with the same borders to the east and west.
27 Along the boundary of Zebulun from the eastern border to the western border: Gad, one portion.
28 The southern border of Gad runs from Tamar to the waters of Meribah at Kadesh and then follows the Brook of Egypt to the Mediterranean.
28 Along the boundary of Gad to the southern border, the boundary will run from Tamar to the waters of Meribath-kadesh and from there to the border of Egypt and to the Mediterranean Sea.
29 “These are the allotments that will be set aside for each tribe’s exclusive possession. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken!
29 This is the land that you will distribute as an inheritance for the tribes of Israel. These are their portions. This is what the LORD God says.
30 “These will be the exits to the city: On the north wall, which is 1 miles long,
30 These are the city exits. The north side is measured at 1.28 miles.
31 there will be three gates, each one named after a tribe of Israel. The first will be named for Reuben, the second for Judah, and the third for Levi.
31 The gates of the city go by the names of the tribes of Israel. There are three gates on the north side: one gate for Reuben, one gate for Judah, and one gate for Levi.
32 On the east wall, also 1 miles long, the gates will be named for Joseph, Benjamin, and Dan.
32 There are three gates on the east side along its 1.28 miles: one gate for Joseph, one gate for Benjamin, and one gate for Dan.
33 The south wall, also 1 miles long, will have gates named for Simeon, Issachar, and Zebulun.
33 There are three gates on the south side measuring 1.28 miles: one gate for Simeon, one gate for Issachar, and one gate for Zebulun.
34 And on the west wall, also 1 miles long, the gates will be named for Gad, Asher, and Naphtali.
34 There are three gates on the west side along its 1.28 miles: one gate for Gad, one gate for Asher, and one gate for Naphtali.
35 “The distance around the entire city will be 6 miles. And from that day the name of the city will be ‘The LORD Is There.’ ”
35 The circumference of the city is 5.1 miles. As of today, the name of the city is The LORD Is There.
