1 Entonces vinieron a mí algunos de los ancianos de Israel y se sentaron delante de mí.

2 Y vino a mí la palabra del SEÑOR, diciendo:

3 Hijo de hombre, estos hombres han erigido sus ídolos en su corazón, y han puesto delante de su rostro lo que los hace caer en su iniquidad. ¿Me dejaré yo consultar por ellos?

4 Por tanto, háblales y diles: "Así dice el Señor DIOS: 'Cualquier hombre de la casa de Israel que erija sus ídolos en su corazón, y que ponga delante de su rostro lo que lo hace caer en su iniquidad, y después venga al profeta, yo, el SEÑOR, le responderé entonces de acuerdo con la multitud de sus ídolos,

5 a fin de alcanzar a la casa de Israel en sus corazones, que están apartados de mí a causa de todos sus ídolos.'"

6 Por tanto, di a la casa de Israel: "Así dice el Señor DIOS: 'Arrepentíos y apartaos de vuestros ídolos, y de todas vuestras abominaciones apartad vuestros rostros.

7 'Porque a cualquiera de la casa de Israel, o de los forasteros que residen en Israel, que se aleje de mí y erija sus ídolos en su corazón, que ponga delante de su rostro lo que lo hace caer en su iniquidad, y después venga al profeta para consultarme por medio de él, yo, el SEÑOR, le responderé por mí mismo.

8 'Y pondré mi rostro contra ese hombre, haré de él señal y proverbio, y lo cortaré de en medio de mi pueblo; y sabréis que yo soy el SEÑOR.

9 'Pero si el profeta se deja engañar y dice algo, soy yo, el SEÑOR, el que he engañado a ese profeta, y extenderé mi mano contra él y lo exterminaré de en medio de mi pueblo Israel.

10 'Llevarán ambos el castigo de su iniquidad; la iniquidad del que consulta será la iniquidad del profeta,

11 a fin de que la casa de Israel no se desvíe más de mí ni se contamine más con todas sus transgresiones. Y ellos serán mi pueblo y yo seré su Dios'"declara el Señor DIOS.

12 Entonces vino a mí la palabra del SEÑOR, diciendo:

13 Hijo de hombre, si un país peca contra mí cometiendo infidelidad, y yo extiendo mi mano contra él, destruyo su provisión de pan y envío hambre contra él y corto de él hombres y animales,

14 y aunque estos tres hombres, Noé, Daniel y Job, estuvieran en medio de él, ellos, por su justicia, sólo se librarían a sí mismosdeclara el Señor DIOS.

15 Si yo hiciera pasar por la tierra fieras y ellas la despoblaran, y se volviera desolada sin que nadie pasara por ella a causa de las fieras,

16 aunque estos tres hombres estuvieran en medio de ella, vivo yodeclara el Señor DIOS, ni a sus hijos ni a sus hijas podrían librar; sólo ellos serían librados, pero el país sería desolado.

17 O si yo trajera la espada contra ese país, y dijera: "Pase la espada por el país", y corto de él hombres y animales,

18 y estos tres hombres estuvieran en medio de él, vivo yodeclara el Señor DIOS, que no podrían librar ni a sus hijos ni a sus hijas; sino que sólo ellos serían librados.

19 O si yo enviara una plaga contra ese país y derramara mi furor sobre él con sangre, para cortar de él hombres y animales,

20 aunque Noé, Daniel y Job estuvieran en medio de él, vivo yodeclara el Señor DIOS, que ni a su hijo ni a su hija podrían librar; ellos, por su justicia, sólo se librarían a sí mismos.

21 Porque así dice el Señor DIOS: ¡Cuánto más cuando yo envíe mis cuatro terribles juicios contra Jerusalén: espada, hambre, fieras y plaga para cortar de ella hombres y animales!

22 Sin embargo, he aquí, en ella quedarán sobrevivientes, hijos e hijas que serán sacados. He aquí, saldrán hacia vosotros y veréis su conducta y sus obras; entonces seréis consolados de la calamidad que he traído contra Jerusalén, de todo lo que he traído sobre ella.

23 Y ellos os consolarán cuando veáis sus caminos y sus obras, y sabréis que no he hecho en vano lo que hice en ella declara el Señor DIOS.

1 Then some elders of Israel came to me and sat down before me.

2 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

3 "Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts and have put right before their faces the stumbling block of their iniquity. Should I be consulted by them at all?

4 "Therefore speak to them and tell them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Any man of the house of Israel who sets up his idols in his heart, puts right before his face the stumbling block of his iniquity, and then comes to the prophet, I the LORD will be brought to give him an answer in the matter in view of the multitude of his idols,

5 in order to lay hold of the hearts of the house of Israel who are estranged from Me through all their idols."'

6 "Therefore say to the house of Israel, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Repent and turn away from your idols and turn your faces away from all your abominations.

7 "For anyone of the house of Israel or of the immigrants who stay in Israel who separates himself from Me, sets up his idols in his heart, puts right before his face the stumbling block of his iniquity, and then comes to the prophet to inquire of Me for himself, I the LORD will be brought to answer him in My own person.

8 "I will set My face against that man and make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from among My people. So you will know that I am the LORD .

9 "But if the prophet is prevailed upon to speak a word, it is I, the LORD , who have prevailed upon that prophet, and I will stretch out My hand against him and destroy him from among My people Israel.

10 "They will bear the punishment of their iniquity; as the iniquity of the inquirer is, so the iniquity of the prophet will be,

11 in order that the house of Israel may no longer stray from Me and no longer defile themselves with all their transgressions. Thus they will be My people, and I shall be their God,"' declares the Lord GOD."

12 Then the word of the LORD came to me saying,

13 "Son of man, if a country sins against Me by committing unfaithfulness, and I stretch out My hand against it, destroy its supply of bread, send famine against it and cut off from it both man and beast,

14 even though these three men, Noah, Daniel and Job were in its midst, by their own righteousness they could only deliver themselves," declares the Lord GOD.

15 "If I were to cause wild beasts to pass through the land and they depopulated it, and it became desolate so that no one would pass through it because of the beasts,

16 though these three men were in its midst, as I live," declares the Lord GOD, "they could not deliver either their sons or their daughters. They alone would be delivered, but the country would be desolate.

17 "Or if I should bring a sword on that country and say, 'Let the sword pass through the country and cut off man and beast from it,'

18 even though these three men were in its midst, as I live," declares the Lord GOD, "they could not deliver either their sons or their daughters, but they alone would be delivered.

19 "Or if I should send a plague against that country and pour out My wrath in blood on it to cut off man and beast from it,

20 even though Noah, Daniel and Job were in its midst, as I live," declares the Lord GOD, "they could not deliver either their son or their daughter. They would deliver only themselves by their righteousness."

21 For thus says the Lord GOD, "How much more when I send My four severe judgments against Jerusalem: sword, famine, wild beasts and plague to cut off man and beast from it!

22 "Yet, behold, survivors will be left in it who will be brought out, both sons and daughters. Behold, they are going to come forth to you and you will see their conduct and actions; then you will be comforted for the calamity which I have brought against Jerusalem for everything which I have brought upon it.

23 "Then they will comfort you when you see their conduct and actions, for you will know that I have not done in vain whatever I did to it," declares the Lord GOD.
