1 Transcurría el año veinticinco del exilio cuando el SEÑOR puso su mano sobre mí, y me llevó a Jerusalén. Esto sucedió al comenzar el año, el día diez del mes primero, es decir, catorce años después de la toma de Jerusalén.

2 En una visión divina, Dios me trasladó a la tierra de Israel y me colocó sobre un monte muy alto. Desde allí, mirando al sur, había unos edificios que parecían una ciudad.

3 Dios me llevó allí, y vi un hombre que parecía hecho de bronce. Estaba de pie junto a la puerta, y en su mano tenía una cuerda de lino y una vara de medir.

4 Aquel hombre me dijo: «Hijo de hombre, abre los ojos y presta atención a todo lo que estoy por mostrarte, pues para eso se te ha traído aquí. Anda luego y comunícale a Israel todo lo que veas».

5 Entonces vi un muro que rodeaba el templo por fuera. El hombre tenía en la mano una vara de tres metros, que le servía para medir, y midió el muro, el cual tenía tres metros de ancho por tres metros de alto.

6 Luego se dirigió a la puerta que mira hacia el oriente. Subió sus gradas y midió el umbral de la puerta, el cual medía tres metros de ancho.

7 Cada celda lateral medía tres metros de largo por tres metros de ancho. Entre las celdas había un espacio de dos metros y medio. El umbral junto al vestíbulo de la puerta que daba al templo medía tres metros.

8 Luego midió el vestíbulo de la puerta, hacia el interior, y medía tres metros.

9 Midió el vestíbulo de la puerta que daba al templo, y este medía cuatro metros; sus pilares eran de un metro de ancho.

10 A cada lado de la puerta que daba al oriente había tres celdas del mismo tamaño. A su vez, los pilares que estaban a los lados tenían la misma medida.

11 Aquel hombre midió también la entrada de la puerta, y tenía cinco metros de ancho por seis metros y medio de largo.

12 Delante de cada celda había un pequeño muro que medía medio metro de ancho por lado. Cada celda medía tres metros de ancho por tres metros de largo.

13 Luego midió la puerta desde el techo de una celda hasta el techo de la celda de enfrente, y entre una y otra abertura había una distancia de doce metros y medio.

14 Luego midió el vestíbulo, que era de diez metros. El vestíbulo daba al atrio, que lo rodeaba por completo.

15 Desde el frente de la puerta de entrada hasta la parte interior del vestíbulo, el corredor tenía una extensión de veinticinco metros.

16 En torno de las celdas y de los pilares había ventanas con rejas que daban al interior. También en torno al vestíbulo había ventanas que daban a su interior. Sobre los pilares había grabados de palmeras.

17 Luego el hombre me llevó al atrio exterior. Allí vi unas habitaciones y un enlosado construido alrededor del atrio; las habitaciones que daban al enlosado eran treinta.

18 Este enlosado, que estaba en el piso inferior, bordeaba las puertas y correspondía a la longitud de las mismas.

19 Luego midió la distancia desde el frente de la puerta de abajo hasta el frente del atrio interior, y al este y al norte la distancia era de cincuenta metros.

20 El hombre midió el largo y el ancho de la puerta que daba hacia el norte, es decir, hacia el atrio exterior.

21 Sus celdas, que también eran tres de cada lado, más sus pilares y su vestíbulo, tenían las mismas medidas que la primera puerta: veinticinco metros de largo por doce metros y medio de ancho.

22 Sus ventanas, su vestíbulo y sus palmeras tenían las mismas medidas que las de la puerta oriental. A esta puerta se subía por medio de siete gradas, y su vestíbulo estaba frente a ellas.

23 En el atrio interior había una puerta que daba a la puerta del norte, igual que en la puerta del este. El hombre midió la distancia entre las dos puertas, y era de cincuenta metros.

24 Luego me condujo hacia el sur, y allí había una puerta que daba al sur. Midió las celdas, los pilares y el vestíbulo, y todos estos tenían las mismas medidas que los anteriores.

25 La puerta y el vestíbulo también tenían ventanas a su alrededor, al igual que los otros, y medían veinticinco metros de largo por doce metros y medio de ancho.

26 También se subía a la puerta por medio de siete gradas, y frente a ella estaba su vestíbulo. Los pilares a ambos lados tenían grabados de palmeras.

27 El atrio interior tenía una puerta que daba al sur. El hombre midió la distancia entre una puerta y otra en dirección sur, y era de cincuenta metros.

28 Luego me llevó por la puerta del sur hacia el atrio interior. Midió la puerta del sur, la cual tenía las mismas medidas que las anteriores.

29 Sus celdas, sus pilares y su vestíbulo también tenían las mismas medidas que los anteriores. La puerta y el vestíbulo tenían ventanas a su alrededor, y medían veinticinco metros de largo por doce metros y medio de ancho.

30 En su derredor había unos vestíbulos de doce metros y medio de largo por dos metros y medio de ancho.

31 Su vestíbulo daba hacia el atrio exterior; sus pilares también tenían grabados de palmeras. A esta puerta se llegaba subiendo ocho gradas.

32 También me llevó al atrio interior que daba al oriente, y midió la entrada, y medía igual que las anteriores.

33 Sus celdas, sus pilares y su vestíbulo también tenían las mismas medidas que los anteriores. La puerta y el vestíbulo tenían ventanas a su alrededor, y medían veinticinco metros de largo por doce metros y medio de ancho.

34 Su vestíbulo daba al atrio exterior. Los pilares tenían a cada lado grabados de palmeras, y a esta puerta se llegaba subiendo ocho gradas.

35 Luego el mismo hombre me llevó a la puerta del norte y la midió: esta tenía las mismas medidas que las otras.

36 También tenía celdas, pilares, vestíbulo y ventanas a su alrededor, y medían veinticinco metros de largo por doce metros y medio de ancho.

37 Su vestíbulo miraba hacia el atrio exterior. Los pilares tenían grabados de palmera a cada lado. A esta puerta se llegaba subiendo ocho gradas.

38 Había una sala que se comunicaba con el vestíbulo de cada puerta. Allí se lavaba el holocausto.

39 En el vestíbulo de la puerta había cuatro mesas, dos de cada lado, donde se mataba a los animales para el holocausto, para la ofrenda por el pecado y para la ofrenda por la culpa.

40 Fuera del vestíbulo, por donde se subía hacia la entrada de la puerta norte, había otras dos mesas; y al otro lado del vestíbulo de la puerta había dos mesas más.

41 De manera que había cuatro mesas de un lado de la puerta y cuatro del otro, es decir, ocho mesas en total, donde se mataba a los animales.

42 Para el holocausto había cuatro mesas talladas en piedra, que medían setenta y cinco centímetros de largo por setenta y cinco centímetros de ancho, y cincuenta centímetros de alto. Sobre ellas se colocaban los instrumentos con que se mataba a los animales para el holocausto y otros sacrificios.

43 Colocados en el interior, sobre las paredes en derredor, estaban los ganchos dobles, que medían unos veinticinco centímetros de largo. Sobre las mesas se ponía la carne de las ofrendas.

44 En el atrio interior, fuera de las puertas interiores, había dos salas. Una de ellas estaba junto a la puerta del norte que daba al sur, y la otra estaba junto a la puerta del sur que daba al norte.

45 Aquel hombre me dijo: «La sala que da al sur es para los sacerdotes que están encargados del servicio en el templo,

46 mientras que la sala que da al norte es para los sacerdotes encargados del servicio en el altar. Estos son los hijos de Sadoc, y son los únicos levitas que pueden acercarse al SEÑOR para servirle».

47 El hombre midió el atrio, que era un cuadrado de cincuenta metros de largo por cincuenta metros de ancho. El altar estaba frente al templo.

48 Entonces me llevó al vestíbulo del templo y midió sus pilares, y cada uno medía dos metros y medio de grueso. El ancho de la puerta era de siete metros, mientras que las paredes laterales de la puerta medían un metro y medio de ancho.

49 El vestíbulo medía seis metros de largo por diez metros de ancho, y se llegaba a él por una escalera de diez gradas. Junto a cada pilar había una columna.

1 In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth of the month, in the fourteenth year after the fall of the city—on that very day the hand of the LORD was on me and he took me there.

2 In visions of God he took me to the land of Israel and set me on a very high mountain, on whose south side were some buildings that looked like a city.

3 He took me there, and I saw a man whose appearance was like bronze; he was standing in the gateway with a linen cord and a measuring rod in his hand.

4 The man said to me, “Son of man, look carefully and listen closely and pay attention to everything I am going to show you, for that is why you have been brought here. Tell the people of Israel everything you see.”

5 I saw a wall completely surrounding the temple area. The length of the measuring rod in the man’s hand was six long cubits, each of which was a cubit and a handbreadth. He measured the wall; it was one measuring rod thick and one rod high.

6 Then he went to the east gate. He climbed its steps and measured the threshold of the gate; it was one rod deep.

7 The alcoves for the guards were one rod long and one rod wide, and the projecting walls between the alcoves were five cubits thick. And the threshold of the gate next to the portico facing the temple was one rod deep.

8 Then he measured the portico of the gateway;

9 it was eight cubits deep and its jambs were two cubits thick. The portico of the gateway faced the temple.

10 Inside the east gate were three alcoves on each side; the three had the same measurements, and the faces of the projecting walls on each side had the same measurements.

11 Then he measured the width of the entrance of the gateway; it was ten cubits and its length was thirteen cubits.

12 In front of each alcove was a wall one cubit high, and the alcoves were six cubits square.

13 Then he measured the gateway from the top of the rear wall of one alcove to the top of the opposite one; the distance was twenty-five cubits from one parapet opening to the opposite one.

14 He measured along the faces of the projecting walls all around the inside of the gateway—sixty cubits. The measurement was up to the portico facing the courtyard.

15 The distance from the entrance of the gateway to the far end of its portico was fifty cubits.

16 The alcoves and the projecting walls inside the gateway were surmounted by narrow parapet openings all around, as was the portico; the openings all around faced inward. The faces of the projecting walls were decorated with palm trees.

17 Then he brought me into the outer court. There I saw some rooms and a pavement that had been constructed all around the court; there were thirty rooms along the pavement.

18 It abutted the sides of the gateways and was as wide as they were long; this was the lower pavement.

19 Then he measured the distance from the inside of the lower gateway to the outside of the inner court; it was a hundred cubits on the east side as well as on the north.

20 Then he measured the length and width of the north gate, leading into the outer court.

21 Its alcoves—three on each side—its projecting walls and its portico had the same measurements as those of the first gateway. It was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.

22 Its openings, its portico and its palm tree decorations had the same measurements as those of the gate facing east. Seven steps led up to it, with its portico opposite them.

23 There was a gate to the inner court facing the north gate, just as there was on the east. He measured from one gate to the opposite one; it was a hundred cubits.

24 Then he led me to the south side and I saw the south gate. He measured its jambs and its portico, and they had the same measurements as the others.

25 The gateway and its portico had narrow openings all around, like the openings of the others. It was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.

26 Seven steps led up to it, with its portico opposite them; it had palm tree decorations on the faces of the projecting walls on each side.

27 The inner court also had a gate facing south, and he measured from this gate to the outer gate on the south side; it was a hundred cubits.

28 Then he brought me into the inner court through the south gate, and he measured the south gate; it had the same measurements as the others.

29 Its alcoves, its projecting walls and its portico had the same measurements as the others. The gateway and its portico had openings all around. It was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.

30 (The porticoes of the gateways around the inner court were twenty-five cubits wide and five cubits deep.)

31 Its portico faced the outer court; palm trees decorated its jambs, and eight steps led up to it.

32 Then he brought me to the inner court on the east side, and he measured the gateway; it had the same measurements as the others.

33 Its alcoves, its projecting walls and its portico had the same measurements as the others. The gateway and its portico had openings all around. It was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.

34 Its portico faced the outer court; palm trees decorated the jambs on either side, and eight steps led up to it.

35 Then he brought me to the north gate and measured it. It had the same measurements as the others,

36 as did its alcoves, its projecting walls and its portico, and it had openings all around. It was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.

37 Its portico faced the outer court; palm trees decorated the jambs on either side, and eight steps led up to it.

38 A room with a doorway was by the portico in each of the inner gateways, where the burnt offerings were washed.

39 In the portico of the gateway were two tables on each side, on which the burnt offerings, sin offerings and guilt offerings were slaughtered.

40 By the outside wall of the portico of the gateway, near the steps at the entrance of the north gateway were two tables, and on the other side of the steps were two tables.

41 So there were four tables on one side of the gateway and four on the other—eight tables in all—on which the sacrifices were slaughtered.

42 There were also four tables of dressed stone for the burnt offerings, each a cubit and a half long, a cubit and a half wide and a cubit high. On them were placed the utensils for slaughtering the burnt offerings and the other sacrifices.

43 And double-pronged hooks, each a handbreadth long, were attached to the wall all around. The tables were for the flesh of the offerings.

44 Outside the inner gate, within the inner court, were two rooms, one at the side of the north gate and facing south, and another at the side of the south gate and facing north.

45 He said to me, “The room facing south is for the priests who guard the temple,

46 and the room facing north is for the priests who guard the altar. These are the sons of Zadok, who are the only Levites who may draw near to the LORD to minister before him.”

47 Then he measured the court: It was square—a hundred cubits long and a hundred cubits wide. And the altar was in front of the temple.

48 He brought me to the portico of the temple and measured the jambs of the portico; they were five cubits wide on either side. The width of the entrance was fourteen cubits and its projecting walls were three cubits wide on either side.

49 The portico was twenty cubits wide, and twelve cubits from front to back. It was reached by a flight of stairs, and there were pillars on each side of the jambs.
