1 Abram y Lot se separan<br />Entonces Abram salió de Egipto junto con su esposa, con Lot y con todo lo que poseían, y viajó hacia el norte, al Neguev.

So Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev, with his wife and everything he had, and Lot went with him.
2 (Abram era muy rico en ganado, plata y oro).

Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold.
3 Desde el Neguev, continuaron viajando por tramos hacia Betel y armaron sus carpas entre Betel y Hai, donde habían acampado antes.

From the Negev he went from place to place until he came to Bethel, to the place between Bethel and Ai where his tent had been earlier
4 Era el mismo lugar donde Abram había construido el altar, y allí volvió a adorar al Señor<br />.

and where he had first built an altar. There Abram called on the name of the LORD.
5 Lot, quien viajaba con Abram, también se había enriquecido mucho con rebaños de ovejas y de cabras, manadas de ganado y muchas carpas.

Now Lot, who was moving about with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents.
6 Pero la tierra no era suficiente para sustentar a Abram y a Lot si ambos vivían tan cerca el uno del otro con todos sus rebaños y manadas.

But the land could not support them while they stayed together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together.
7 Entonces surgieron disputas entre los que cuidaban los animales de Abram y los que cuidaban los de Lot. (En aquel tiempo, también vivían en la tierra los cananeos y los ferezeos).

And quarreling arose between Abram’s herders and Lot’s. The Canaanites and Perizzites were also living in the land at that time.
8 Finalmente, Abram le dijo a Lot: «No permitamos que este conflicto se interponga entre nosotros o entre los que cuidan nuestros animales. Después de todo, ¡somos parientes cercanos!

So Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives.
9 Toda la región está a tu disposición. Escoge la parte de la tierra que prefieras, y nos separaremos. Si tú quieres la tierra a la izquierda, entonces yo tomaré la tierra de la derecha. Si tú prefieres la tierra de la derecha, yo me iré a la izquierda».

Is not the whole land before you? Let’s part company. If you go to the left, I’ll go to the right; if you go to the right, I’ll go to the left.”
10 Lot miró con detenimiento las fértiles llanuras del valle del Jordán en dirección a Zoar. Toda esa región tenía abundancia de agua, como el jardín del Señor<br /> o la hermosa tierra de Egipto. (Esto ocurrió antes de que el Señor<br /> destruyera Sodoma y Gomorra).

Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan toward Zoar was well watered, like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt. (This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)
11 Lot escogió para sí todo el valle del Jordán, que estaba situado al oriente. Se separó de su tío Abram y se mudó allí con sus rebaños y sus siervos.

So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company:
12 Entonces Abram se estableció en la tierra de Canaán, y Lot movió sus carpas a un lugar cerca de Sodoma y se estableció entre las ciudades de la llanura.

Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom.
13 Pero los habitantes de esa región eran sumamente perversos y no dejaban de pecar contra el Señor<br />.

Now the people of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD.
14 Después de que Lot se fue, el Señor<br /> le dijo a Abram: «Mira lo más lejos que puedas en todas las direcciones: al norte y al sur, al oriente y al occidente.

The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west.
15 Yo te doy toda esta tierra, tan lejos como alcances a ver, a ti y a tu descendencia<br /> como posesión permanente.

All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever.
16 ¡Y te daré tantos descendientes que, como el polvo de la tierra, será imposible contarlos!

I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted.
17 Recorre toda la tierra en cada dirección, pues yo te la entrego».

Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.”
18 Entonces Abram mudó su campamento a Hebrón y se estableció cerca del robledo que pertenecía a Mamre, y allí construyó otro altar al Señor<br />.

So Abram went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he pitched his tents. There he built an altar to the LORD.
