1 ¡AY de ti, el que saqueas, y nunca fuiste saqueado; el que haces deslealtad, bien que nadie contra ti la hizo! Cuando acabares de saquear, serás tú saqueado; y cuando acabares de hacer deslealtad, haráse contra ti.

How horrible it will be for you, you destroyer, although you haven't been destroyed. How horrible it will be for you, you traitor, although you haven't been betrayed. When you've finished destroying, you will be destroyed. When you've finished being a traitor, you will be betrayed.
2 Oh Jehová, ten misericordia de nosotros, á ti hemos esperado: tú, brazo de ellos en la mañana, sé también nuestra salud en tiempo de la tribulación.

O LORD, have pity on us. We wait with hope for you. Be our strength in the morning. Yes, be our savior in times of trouble.
3 Los pueblos huyeron á la voz del estruendo; las gentes fueron esparcidas por tus levantamientos.

People flee from the noise of [your] army. Nations scatter when you attack.
4 Mas vuestra presa será cogida como cuando cogen las orugas: correrá sobre ellos como de una á otra parte corren las langostas.

You nations, your loot is gathered as grasshoppers harvest a crop. Like swarming locusts, people rush for your loot.
5 Será ensalzado Jehová, el cual mora en las alturas: llenó á Sión de juicio y de justicia.

The LORD is honored because he lives on high. He will fill Zion with justice and righteousness.
6 Y reinarán en tus tiempos la sabiduría y la ciencia, y la fuerza de la salvación: el temor de Jehová será su tesoro.

He will be the foundation of your future. The riches of salvation are wisdom and knowledge. The fear of the LORD is [your] treasure.
7 He aquí que sus embajadores darán voces afuera; los mensajeros de paz llorarán amargamente.

Heroes cry in the streets. Messengers of peace cry bitterly.
8 Las calzadas están desechas, cesaron los caminantes: anulado ha la alianza, aborreció las ciudades, tuvo en nada los hombres.

Highways are deserted. Travelers stop traveling. Agreements are broken. Witnesses are rejected. People are no longer respected.
9 Enlutóse, enfermó la tierra: el Líbano se avergonzó, y fué cortado: hase tornado Sarón como desierto; y Basán y Carmel fueron sacudidos.

The country grieves and wastes away. Lebanon is ashamed and is decaying. Sharon has become like a wilderness. Bashan and Carmel are shaken.
10 Ahora me levantaré, dice Jehová; ahora seré ensalzado, ahora seré engrandecido.

The LORD says, "Now I will arise. Now I will get up. Now I will be lifted up."
11 Concebisteis hojarascas, aristas pariréis: el soplo de vuestro fuego os consumirá.

You will be pregnant with hay. You will give birth to straw. Your breath will be a fire which will burn you up.
12 Y los pueblos serán como cal quemada: como espinas cortadas serán quemados con fuego.

People will be cremated. They will be set on fire like dry thornbushes.
13 Oid, los que estáis lejos, lo que he hecho; y vosotros los cercanos, conoced mi potencia.

Hear what I have done, you people who are far away! Acknowledge my might, you people who are near!
14 Los pecadores se asombraron en Sión, espanto sobrecogió á los hipócritas. ¿Quién de nosotros morará con el fuego consumidor? ¿quién de nosotros habitará con las llamas eternas?

The sinners in Zion are terrified. Trembling seizes the ungodly. Can any of us live through a fire that destroys? Can any of us live through a fire that burns forever?
15 El que camina en justicia, y habla lo recto; el que aborrece la ganancia de violencias, el que sacude sus manos por no recibir cohecho, el que tapa su oreja por no oir sangres, el que cierra sus ojos por no ver cosa mala:

The person who does what is right and speaks the truth will live. He rejects getting rich by extortion and refuses to take bribes. He refuses to listen to those who are plotting murders. He doesn't look for evil things to do.
16 Este habitará en las alturas: fortalezas de rocas serán su lugar de acogimiento; se le dará su pan, y sus aguas serán ciertas.

This person will live on high. His stronghold will be a fortress made of rock. He will have plenty of food and a dependable supply of water.
17 Tus ojos verán al Rey en su hermosura; verán la tierra que está lejos.

Your eyes will see how handsome the king is. You will see a land that stretches into the distance.
18 Tu corazón imaginará el espanto, y dirá: ¿Qué es del escriba? ¿qué del pesador? ¿qué del que pone en lista las casas más insignes?

Your mind will be thinking of the terrors [in the past]. Where are the scribes? Where are the tax collectors? Where are those who counted the towers?
19 No verás á aquel pueblo espantable, pueblo de lengua oscura de entender, de lengua tartamuda que no comprendas.

You will no longer see those savage people, those people with an unrecognizable language, with a foreign language that you can't understand.
20 Mira á Sión, ciudad de nuestras solemnidades: tus ojos verán á Jerusalem, morada de quietud, tienda que no será desarmada, ni serán arrancadas sus estacas, ni ninguna de sus cuerdas será rota.

Look at Zion, the city of our festivals. Your eyes will see Jerusalem as a peaceful place. It is a tent that can't be moved. Its tent pegs will never be pulled out, and none of its ropes will be broken.
21 Porque ciertamente allí será Jehová para con nosotros fuerte, lugar de ríos, de arroyos muy anchos, por el cual no andará galera, ni por él pasará grande navío.

The LORD will be our mighty defender in a place surrounded by wide rivers and streams. Ships with oars won't travel on them. Stately ships won't sail on them.
22 Porque Jehová es nuestro juez, Jehová es nuestro legislador, Jehová es nuestro Rey, él mismo nos salvará.

The LORD is our judge. The LORD is our lawgiver. The LORD is our king. The LORD is our savior.
23 Tus cuerdas se aflojaron; no afirmaron su mástil, ni entesaron la vela: repartiráse entonces presa de muchos despojos: los cojos arrebatarán presa.

Your ropes hang loose, your mast isn't secure, and your sail isn't spread out. A large amount of loot will be distributed. Lame people will carry off your loot.
24 No dirá el morador: Estoy enfermo: el pueblo que morare en ella será absuelto de pecado.

No one who lives [in Zion] will say, "I'm sick." The sins of its inhabitants will be forgiven.
