1 Palabra que vino a Jeremías acerca de todo el pueblo de Judá en el año cuarto de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, el cual es el año primero de Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia

2 lo que habló Jeremías profeta a todo el pueblo de Judá, y a todos los moradores de Jerusalén, diciendo

3 Desde el año trece de Josías hijo de Amón, rey de Judá, hasta este día, que son veintitrés años, vino a mí palabra del SEÑOR, la cual hablé a vosotros, madrugando y dando aviso; mas no oísteis

4 Y envió el SEÑOR a vosotros todos sus siervos los profetas, madrugando y enviándoles; mas no oísteis, ni inclinasteis vuestro oído para escuchar

5 cuando decían: Volveos ahora de vuestro mal camino y de la maldad de vuestras obras, y morad sobre la tierra que os dio el SEÑOR, a vosotros y a vuestros padres para siempre

6 y no caminéis en pos de dioses ajenos, sirviéndoles y encorvándoos a ellos, ni me provoquéis a ira con la obra de vuestras manos; y no os haré mal

7 Pero no me oíste, dijo el SEÑOR, provocándome a ira con la obra de vuestras manos para mal vuestro

8 Por tanto, así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: Por cuanto no oísteis mis palabras

9 he aquí enviaré <em>yo</em>, y tomaré todos los linajes del aquilón, dice el SEÑOR, y a Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, mi siervo, y los traeré contra esta tierra, y contra sus moradores, y contra todas estas naciones en derredor; y los mataré, y los pondré por escarnio, y por silbo, y en soledades perpetuas

10 Y haré perder de entre ellos voz de gozo y voz de alegría, voz de desposado y voz de desposada, voz de muelas, y luz de candil

11 Y toda esta tierra será puesta en soledad, en espanto; y servirán estos gentiles al rey de Babilonia setenta años

12 Y será que, cuando fueren cumplidos los setenta años, visitaré sobre el rey de Babilonia y sobre aquella gente su iniquidad, dijo el SEÑOR, y sobre la tierra de los caldeos; y <em>yo</em> la pondré en desiertos para siempre

13 Y traeré sobre aquella tierra todas mis palabras que he hablado contra ella, con todo lo que está escrito en este libro, profetizado por Jeremías contra todos los gentiles

14 Porque se servirán también de ellos muchas naciones, y reyes grandes; y <em>yo</em> les pagaré conforme a sus hechos, y conforme a la obra de sus manos

15 Porque así me dijo el SEÑOR Dios de Israel: Toma de mi mano el vaso del vino de este furor, y da a beber de él a todos los gentiles a los cuales yo te envío

16 Y beberán, y temblarán, y enloquecerán delante de la espada que yo envío entre ellos

17 Y tomé el vaso de la mano del SEÑOR, y di de beber a todos los gentiles a los cuales me envió el SEÑOR

18 A Jerusalén, y a las ciudades de Judá, y a sus reyes, y a sus príncipes, para que yo los pusiera en soledad, en escarnio, y en silbo, y en maldición, como este día

19 a Faraón rey de Egipto, y a sus siervos, a sus príncipes, y a todo su pueblo

20 y a toda la mezcla <em>de gente</em>, y a todos los reyes de tierra de Uz, y a todos los reyes de <em>la</em> tierra de los Filisteos, y a Ascalón, y <em>a</em> Gaza, y <em>a</em> Ecrón, y al residuo de Asdod

21 a Edom, <em>a</em> Moab, a los hijos de Amón

22 a todos los reyes de Tiro, a todos los reyes de Sidón, a todos los reyes de las islas que están de ese lado del mar

23 a Dedán, <em>a</em> Tema, <em>a</em> Buz, a todos los que están al cabo del mundo

24 a todos los reyes de Arabia, a todos los reyes de pueblos, la Arabia que habita en el desierto

25 a todos los reyes de Zimri, a todos los reyes de Elam, a todos los reyes de Media

26 y a todos los reyes del aquilón, los de cerca y los de lejos, los unos con los otros; y a todos los reinos de la tierra que <em>están</em> sobre la faz de la tierra, y el rey de Sesac <em>(Babilonia)</em> beberá después de ellos

27 Les dirás, pues: Así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Bebed, y embriagaos, y vomitad, y caed, y no os levantéis delante de la espada que yo envío entre vosotros

28 Y será que, si no quisieren tomar el vaso de tu mano para beber, les dirás tú: Así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: Habéis de beber

29 Porque he aquí, que a la ciudad sobre la cual es llamado mi nombre yo comienzo a hacer mal; ¿y solamente vosotros seréis absueltos? No seréis absueltos, porque espada traigo sobre todos los moradores de la tierra, dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos

30 Tú, pues, profetizarás a ellos todas estas palabras, y les dirás: El SEÑOR bramará <em>como león</em> desde lo alto, y desde la morada de su Santidad dará su voz; enfurecido bramará sobre su morada; canción <em>de lagareros</em> cantará contra todos los moradores de la tierra

31 Llegó el estruendo hasta el cabo de la tierra; porque <em>es</em> juicio del SEÑOR con los gentiles: él es el Juez de toda carne; entregará los impíos a espada, dijo el SEÑOR

32 Así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: He aquí que el mal sale de gente en gente, y grande tempestad se levantará de los fines de la tierra

33 Y serán muertos del SEÑOR en aquel día desde un cabo de la tierra hasta el otro cabo; no se endecharán, ni se recogerán, ni serán enterrados; como estiércol serán sobre la faz de la tierra

34 Aullad, pastores, y clamad; y revolcaos <em>en el polvo</em>, mayorales del rebaño; porque cumplidos son vuestros días para ser vosotros degollados y esparcidos, y caeréis como vaso de codicia

35 Y no habrá huida para los pastores, ni escape para los mayorales del rebaño

36 ¡Voz del grito de los pastores, y aullido de los mayorales del hato <em>se oirá</em>! Porque el SEÑOR asoló sus majadas

37 Y las majadas quietas serán taladas por la ira del furor del SEÑOR

38 Desamparó como leoncillo su morada; porque la tierra de ellos <em>fue</em> asolada por la ira del opresor, y por el enojo de su furor

1 The word came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, which was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.

2 So Jeremiah the prophet said to all the people of Judah and to all those living in Jerusalem:

3 For twenty-three years—from the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah until this very day—the word of the LORD has come to me and I have spoken to you again and again, but you have not listened.

4 And though the LORD has sent all his servants the prophets to you again and again, you have not listened or paid any attention.

5 They said, “Turn now, each of you, from your evil ways and your evil practices, and you can stay in the land the LORD gave to you and your ancestors for ever and ever.

6 Do not follow other gods to serve and worship them; do not arouse my anger with what your hands have made. Then I will not harm you.”

7 “But you did not listen to me,” declares the LORD, “and you have aroused my anger with what your hands have made, and you have brought harm to yourselves.”

8 Therefore the LORD Almighty says this: “Because you have not listened to my words,

9 I will summon all the peoples of the north and my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon,” declares the LORD, “and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and against all the surrounding nations. I will completely destroy them and make them an object of horror and scorn, and an everlasting ruin.

10 I will banish from them the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, the sound of millstones and the light of the lamp.

11 This whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

12 “But when the seventy years are fulfilled, I will punish the king of Babylon and his nation, the land of the Babylonians, for their guilt,” declares the LORD, “and will make it desolate forever.

13 I will bring on that land all the things I have spoken against it, all that are written in this book and prophesied by Jeremiah against all the nations.

14 They themselves will be enslaved by many nations and great kings; I will repay them according to their deeds and the work of their hands.”

15 This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, said to me: “Take from my hand this cup filled with the wine of my wrath and make all the nations to whom I send you drink it.

16 When they drink it, they will stagger and go mad because of the sword I will send among them.”

17 So I took the cup from the LORD’s hand and made all the nations to whom he sent me drink it:

18 Jerusalem and the towns of Judah, its kings and officials, to make them a ruin and an object of horror and scorn, a curse —as they are today;

19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, his attendants, his officials and all his people,

20 and all the foreign people there; all the kings of Uz; all the kings of the Philistines (those of Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the people left at Ashdod);

21 Edom, Moab and Ammon;

22 all the kings of Tyre and Sidon; the kings of the coastlands across the sea;

23 Dedan, Tema, Buz and all who are in distant places ;

24 all the kings of Arabia and all the kings of the foreign people who live in the wilderness;

25 all the kings of Zimri, Elam and Media;

26 and all the kings of the north, near and far, one after the other—all the kingdoms on the face of the earth. And after all of them, the king of Sheshak will drink it too.

27 “Then tell them, ‘This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Drink, get drunk and vomit, and fall to rise no more because of the sword I will send among you.’

28 But if they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink, tell them, ‘This is what the LORD Almighty says: You must drink it!

29 See, I am beginning to bring disaster on the city that bears my Name, and will you indeed go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for I am calling down a sword on all who live on the earth, declares the LORD Almighty.’

30 “Now prophesy all these words against them and say to them: “ ‘The LORD will roar from on high; he will thunder from his holy dwelling and roar mightily against his land. He will shout like those who tread the grapes, shout against all who live on the earth.

31 The tumult will resound to the ends of the earth, for the LORD will bring charges against the nations; he will bring judgment on all mankind and put the wicked to the sword,’ ” declares the LORD.

32 This is what the LORD Almighty says: “Look! Disaster is spreading from nation to nation; a mighty storm is rising from the ends of the earth.”

33 At that time those slain by the LORD will be everywhere—from one end of the earth to the other. They will not be mourned or gathered up or buried, but will be like dung lying on the ground.

34 Weep and wail, you shepherds; roll in the dust, you leaders of the flock. For your time to be slaughtered has come; you will fall like the best of the rams.

35 The shepherds will have nowhere to flee, the leaders of the flock no place to escape.

36 Hear the cry of the shepherds, the wailing of the leaders of the flock, for the LORD is destroying their pasture.

37 The peaceful meadows will be laid waste because of the fierce anger of the LORD.

38 Like a lion he will leave his lair, and their land will become desolate because of the sword of the oppressor and because of the LORD’s fierce anger.
