Jeremiah 45

TMB

GW

1 The word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke unto Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book out of the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,
1 This is the message that the prophet Jeremiah spoke to Baruch, son of Neriah. Baruch wrote these things on a scroll as Jeremiah dictated them during the fourth year that Jehoiakim, son of Josiah, was king of Judah. Jeremiah said,
2 "Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, unto thee, O Baruch:
2 "This is what the LORD God of Israel says to you, Baruch:
3 Thou didst say, `Woe is me now! For the LORD hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.'
3 You said, 'I'm so miserable! The LORD has added grief to my pain. I'm worn out from groaning. I can't find any rest.'
4 Thus shalt thou say unto him, `The LORD saith thus: Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.
4 "Say this to Baruch, 'This is what the LORD says: I will tear down what I have built. I will uproot what I have planted throughout the earth.
5 And seekest thou great things for thyself? Seek them not; for behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD, but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.'"
5 Are you looking for great things for yourself? Don't look for them, because I'm going to bring disaster on all people, declares the LORD. But wherever you go I will let you escape with your life.'"
