NCV 1 The Lord said to Job: NIV 1 The LORD said to Job: NCV 2 "Will the person who argues with the Almighty correct him? Let the person who accuses God answer him." NIV 2 “Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who accuses God answer him!” NCV 3 Then Job answered the Lord: NIV 3 Then Job answered the LORD: NCV 4 "I am not worthy; I cannot answer you anything, so I will put my hand over my mouth. NIV 4 “I am unworthy—how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth. NCV 5 I spoke one time, but I will not answer again; I even spoke two times, but I will say nothing more." NIV 5 I spoke once, but I have no answer— twice, but I will say no more.” NCV 6 Then the Lord spoke to Job from the storm: NIV 6 Then the LORD spoke to Job out of the storm: NCV 7 "Be strong, like a man! I will ask you questions, and you must answer me. NIV 7 “Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. NCV 8 Would you say that I am unfair? Would you blame me to make yourself look right? NIV 8 “Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself? NCV 9 Are you as strong as God? Can your voice thunder like his? NIV 9 Do you have an arm like God’s, and can your voice thunder like his? NCV 10 If so, then decorate yourself with glory and beauty; dress in honor and greatness as if they were clothing. NIV 10 Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor, and clothe yourself in honor and majesty. NCV 11 Let your great anger punish; look at the proud and bring them down. NIV 11 Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at all who are proud and bring them low, NCV 12 Look at the proud and make them humble. Crush the wicked wherever they are. NIV 12 look at all who are proud and humble them, crush the wicked where they stand. NCV 13 Bury them all in the dirt together; cover their faces in the grave. NIV 13 Bury them all in the dust together; shroud their faces in the grave. NCV 14 If you can do that, then I myself will praise you, because you are strong enough to save yourself. NIV 14 Then I myself will admit to you that your own right hand can save you. NCV 15 "Look at the behemoth, which I made just as I made you. It eats grass like an ox. NIV 15 “Look at Behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on grass like an ox. NCV 16 Look at the strength it has in its body; the muscles of its stomach are powerful. NIV 16 What strength it has in its loins, what power in the muscles of its belly! NCV 17 Its tail is like a cedar tree; the muscles of its thighs are woven together. NIV 17 Its tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of its thighs are close-knit. NCV 18 Its bones are like tubes of bronze; its legs are like bars of iron. NIV 18 Its bones are tubes of bronze, its limbs like rods of iron. NCV 19 It is one of the first of God's works, but its Maker can destroy it. NIV 19 It ranks first among the works of God, yet its Maker can approach it with his sword. NCV 20 The hills, where the wild animals play, provide food for it. NIV 20 The hills bring it their produce, and all the wild animals play nearby. NCV 21 It lies under the lotus plants, hidden by the tall grass in the swamp. NIV 21 Under the lotus plants it lies, hidden among the reeds in the marsh. NCV 22 The lotus plants hide it in their shadow; the poplar trees by the streams surround it. NIV 22 The lotuses conceal it in their shadow; the poplars by the stream surround it. NCV 23 If the river floods, it will not be afraid; it is safe even if the Jordan River rushes to its mouth. NIV 23 A raging river does not alarm it; it is secure, though the Jordan should surge against its mouth. NCV 24 Can anyone blind its eyes and capture it? Can anyone put hooks in its nose? NIV 24 Can anyone capture it by the eyes, or trap it and pierce its nose?
