NRS 2 He came to Jesus by night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do apart from the presence of God." CEB 3 Jesus answered, "I assure you, unless someone is born anew, it's not possible to see God's kingdom." NRS 3 Jesus answered him, "Very truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above." CEB 4 Nicodemus asked, "How is it possible for an adult to be born? It's impossible to enter the mother's womb for a second time and be born, isn't it?" NRS 4 Nicodemus said to him, "How can anyone be born after having grown old? Can one enter a second time into the mother's womb and be born?" CEB 5 Jesus answered, "I assure you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, it's not possible to enter God's kingdom. NRS 5 Jesus answered, "Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. CEB 6 Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit. NRS 6 What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. CEB 7 Don't be surprised that I said to you, ‘You must be born anew.' NRS 7 Do not be astonished that I said to you, "You must be born from above.' CEB 8 God's Spirit blows wherever it wishes. You hear its sound, but you don't know where it comes from or where it is going. It's the same with everyone who is born of the Spirit." NRS 8 The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit." CEB 9 Nicodemus said, "How are these things possible?" NRS 9 Nicodemus said to him, "How can these things be?" CEB 10 “Jesus answered, “You are a teacher of Israel and you don't know these things? NRS 10 Jesus answered him, "Are you a teacher of Israel, and yet you do not understand these things? CEB 11 I assure you that we speak about what we know and testify about what we have seen, but you don't receive our testimony. NRS 11 "Very truly, I tell you, we speak of what we know and testify to what we have seen; yet you do not receive our testimony. CEB 12 If I have told you about earthly things and you don't believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things? NRS 12 If I have told you about earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you about heavenly things? CEB 13 No one has gone up to heaven except the one who came down from heaven, the Human One. NRS 13 No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. CEB 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so must the Human One be lifted up NRS 14 And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, CEB 15 so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life. CEB 17 God didn't send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through him. NRS 17 "Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. CEB 18 Whoever believes in him isn't judged; whoever doesn't believe in him is already judged, because they don't believe in the name of God's only Son. NRS 18 Those who believe in him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God. CEB 19 "This is the basis for judgment: The light came into the world, and people loved darkness more than the light, for their actions are evil. NRS 19 And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. CEB 20 All who do wicked things hate the light and don't come to the light for fear that their actions will be exposed to the light. NRS 20 For all who do evil hate the light and do not come to the light, so that their deeds may not be exposed. CEB 21 Whoever does the truth comes to the light so that it can be seen that their actions were done in God."
