Mark 13

RHE 1 And as he was going out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him: Master, behold what manner of stones and what buildings are here. NIV 1 As Jesus was leaving the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Look, Teacher! What massive stones! What magnificent buildings!” RHE 2 And Jesus answering, said to him: Seest thou all these great buildings? There shall not be left a stone upon a stone, that shall not be thrown down. NIV 2 “Do you see all these great buildings?” replied Jesus. “Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.” RHE 3 And as he sat on the mount of Olivet over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him apart: NIV 3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately, RHE 4 Tell us, when shall these things be and what shall be the sign when all these things shall begin to be fulfilled? NIV 4 “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled?” RHE 5 And Jesus answering, began to say to them: Take heed lest any man deceive you. NIV 5 Jesus said to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. RHE 6 For many shall come in my name saying, I am he: and they shall deceive many. NIV 6 Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many. RHE 7 And when you shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, fear ye not. For such things must needs be: but the end is not yet. NIV 7 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. RHE 8 For nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places and famines. These things are the beginning of sorrows. NIV 8 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains. RHE 9 But look to yourselves. For they shall deliver you Up to councils: and in the synagogues you shall be beaten: and you shall stand before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony unto them. NIV 9 “You must be on your guard. You will be handed over to the local councils and flogged in the synagogues. On account of me you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them. RHE 10 And unto all nations the gospel must first be preached. NIV 10 And the gospel must first be preached to all nations. RHE 11 And when they shall lead you and deliver you up, be not thoughtful beforehand what you shall speak: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye. For it is not you that speak, but the Holy Ghost. NIV 11 Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit. RHE 12 And the brother shall betray his brother unto death, and the father his son; and children shall rise up against their parents and shall work their death. NIV 12 “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. RHE 13 And you shall be hated by all men for my name’s sake. But he that shall endure unto the end, he shall be saved. NIV 13 Everyone will hate you because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. RHE 14 And when you shall see the abomination of desolation, standing where it ought not (he that readeth let him understand): then let them that are in Judea flee unto the mountains. NIV 14 “When you see ‘the abomination that causes desolation’standing where itoes not belong—let the reader understand—then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. RHE 15 And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house nor enter therein to take any thing out of the house. NIV 15 Let no one on the housetop go down or enter the house to take anything out. RHE 16 And let him that shall be in the field not turn back to take up his garment. NIV 16 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. RHE 17 And woe to them that are with child and that give suck in those days. NIV 17 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! RHE 18 But pray ye that these things happen not in winter. NIV 18 Pray that this will not take place in winter, RHE 19 For in those days shall be such tribulations as were not from the beginning of the creation which God created until now: neither shall be. NIV 19 because those will be days of distress unequaled from the beginning, when God created the world, until now—and never to be equaled again. RHE 20 And unless the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh should be saved: but, for the sake of the elect which he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days. NIV 20 “If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them. RHE 21 And then if any man shall say to you: Lo, here is Christ. Lo, he is here: do not believe. NIV 21 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe it. RHE 22 For there will rise up false Christs and false prophets: and they shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce (if it were possible) even the elect. NIV 22 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. RHE 23 Take you heed therefore: behold, I have foretold you all things. NIV 23 So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time. RHE 24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened and the moon shall not give her light. NIV 24 “But in those days, following that distress, “ ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; RHE 25 And the stars of heaven shall be falling down and the powers that are in heaven shall be moved. NIV 25 the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ RHE 26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds, with great power and glory. NIV 26 “At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. RHE 27 And then shall he send his angels and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. NIV 27 And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens. RHE 28 Now of the fig tree learn ye a parable. When the branch thereof is now tender and the leaves are come forth, you know that summer is very near. NIV 28 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. RHE 29 So you also when you shall see these things come to pass, know ye that it is very nigh, even at the doors. NIV 29 Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that itis near, right at the door. RHE 30 Amen, I say to you that this generation shall not pass until all these things be done. NIV 30 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. RHE 31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my word shall not pass away. NIV 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. RHE 32 But of that day or hour no man knoweth, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father. NIV 32 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. RHE 33 Take ye heed, watch and pray. For ye know not when the time is. NIV 33 Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. RHE 34 Even as a man who, going into a far country, left his house and gave authority to his servants over every work and commanded the porter to watch. NIV 34 It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. RHE 35 Watch ye therefore (for you know not when the lord of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cock crowing, or in the morning): NIV 35 “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. RHE 36 Lest coming on a sudden, he find you sleeping. NIV 36 If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. RHE 37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch. NIV 37 What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’ ”
