1 The book of the generation of Yeshua the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Avraham.
1 The family tree of Jesus Christ, David's son, Abraham's son:
2 Avraham became the father of Yitzchak. Yitzchak became the father of Ya`akov. Ya`akov became the father of Yehudah and his brothers.

6 Yishai became the father of David the king. David became the father of Shlomo by her who had been the wife of Uriyah.
6 Jesse had David, and David became king. David had Solomon (Uriah's wife was the mother),
7 Shlomo became the father of Rechav`am. Rechav`am became the father of Aviyah. Aviyah became the father of Asa.
7 Solomon had Rehoboam, Rehoboam had Abijah, Abijah had Asa,
8 Asa became the father of Yehoshafat. Yehoshafat became the father of Yoram. Yoram became the father of `Uzziyah.
8 Asa had Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat had Joram, Joram had Uzziah,
9 `Uzziyah became the father of Yotam. Yotam became the father of Achaz. Achaz became the father of Hizkiyahu.
9 Uzziah had Jotham, Jotham had Ahaz, Ahaz had Hezekiah,
10 Hizkiyahu became the father of Menashsheh. Menashsheh became the father of Amon. Amon became the father of Yoshiyahu.
10 Hezekiah had Manasseh, Manasseh had Amon, Amon had Josiah,
11 Yoshiyahu became the father of Yekhonyah and his brothers, at the time of the exile to Bavel.
11 Josiah had Jehoiachin and his brothers, and then the people were taken into the Babylonian exile.
12 After the exile to Bavel, Yekhonyah became the father of She'alti'el. She'alti'el became the father of Zerubbavel.
12 When the Babylonian exile ended, Jehoiachin had Shealtiel, Shealtiel had Zerubbabel,
13 Zerubbavel became the father of Avichud. Avichud became the father of Elyakim. Elyakim became the father of Azur.
13 Zerubbabel had Abiud, Abiud had Eliakim, Eliakim had Azor,
14 Azur became the father of Tzadok. Tzadok became the father of Yakhin. Yakhin became the father of Eliud.
14 Azor had Zadok, Zadok had Achim, Achim had Eliud,
15 Eliud became the father of El`azar. El`azar became the father of Mattan. Mattan became the father of Ya`akov.
15 Eliud had Eleazar, Eleazar had Matthan, Matthan had Jacob,
16 Ya`akov became the father of Yosef, the husband of Miryam, from whom was born Yeshua, who is called Messiah.
16 Jacob had Joseph, Mary's husband, the Mary who gave birth to Jesus, the Jesus who was called Christ.
17 So all the generations from Avraham to David are fourteen generations; from David to the exile to Bavel fourteen generations; and from the carrying away to Bavel to the Messiah, fourteen generations.
17 There were fourteen generations from Abraham to David, another fourteen from David to the Babylonian exile, and yet another fourteen from the Babylonian exile to Christ. The Birth of Jesus
18 Now the birth of Yeshua the Messiah was like this; because when his mother, Miryam, had been engaged to Yosef, before they came together, she was found pregnant by the Ruach HaKodesh.
18 The birth of Jesus took place like this. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. Before they came to the marriage bed, Joseph discovered she was pregnant. (It was by the Holy Spirit, but he didn't know that.)
19 Yosef, her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, intended to put her away secretly.
19 Joseph, chagrined but noble, determined to take care of things quietly so Mary would not be disgraced.
20 But when he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Yosef, son of David, don't be afraid to take to yourself Miryam, your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Ruach HaKodesh.
20 While he was trying to figure a way out, he had a dream. God's angel spoke in the dream: "Joseph, son of David, don't hesitate to get married. Mary's pregnancy is Spirit-conceived. God's Holy Spirit has made her pregnant.
21 She shall bring forth a son. You shall call his name Yeshua, for it is he who shall save his people from their sins."
21 She will bring a son to birth, and when she does, you, Joseph, will name him Jesus - 'God saves' - because he will save his people from their sins."
22 Now all this has happened, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,
22 This would bring the prophet's embryonic sermon to full term:
23 "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, And shall bring forth a son. They shall call his name Immanu'el;" Which is, being interpreted, "God with us."
23 Watch for this - a virgin will get pregnant and bear a son; They will name him Emmanuel (Hebrew for "God is with us").
24 Yosef arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took his wife to himself;
24 Then Joseph woke up. He did exactly what God's angel commanded in the dream: He married Mary.
25 and didn't know her sexually until she had brought forth her firstborn son. He named him Yeshua.
25 But he did not consummate the marriage until she had the baby. He named the baby Jesus.
