Hebrew Names Version HNV
The Message Bible MSG
1 Now after the Shabbat, as it began to dawn on the first day of the week, Miryam from Magdala and the other Miryam came to see the tomb.
1
After the Sabbath, as the first light of the new week dawned, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to keep vigil at the tomb.
2 Behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from the sky, and came and rolled away the stone from the door, and sat on it.
2
Suddenly the earth reeled and rocked under their feet as God's angel came down from heaven, came right up to where they were standing. He rolled back the stone and then sat on it.
3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow.
3
Shafts of lightning blazed from him. His garments shimmered snow-white.
4 For fear of him, the guards shook, and became like dead men.
4
The guards at the tomb were scared to death. They were so frightened, they couldn't move.
5 The angel answered the women, "Don't be afraid, for I know that you seek Yeshua, who has been crucified.
5
The angel spoke to the women: "There is nothing to fear here. I know you're looking for Jesus, the One they nailed to the cross.
6 He is not here, for he has risen, just like he said. Come, see the place where the Lord was lying.
6
He is not here. He was raised, just as he said. Come and look at the place where he was placed.
7 Go quickly and tell his talmidim, 'He has risen from the dead, and behold, he goes before you into the Galil; there you will see him.' Behold, I have told you."
7
"Now, get on your way quickly and tell his disciples, 'He is risen from the dead. He is going on ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there.' That's the message."
8 They departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring his talmidim word.
8
The women, deep in wonder and full of joy, lost no time in leaving the tomb. They ran to tell the disciples.
9 As they went to tell his talmidim, behold, Yeshua met them, saying, "Rejoice!" They came and took hold of his feet, and worshiped him.
9
Then Jesus met them, stopping them in their tracks. "Good morning!" he said. They fell to their knees, embraced his feet, and worshiped him.
10 Then Yeshua said to them, "Don't be afraid. Go tell my brothers that they may go into the Galil, and there they will see me."
10
Jesus said, "You're holding on to me for dear life! Don't be frightened like that. Go tell my brothers that they are to go to Galilee, and that I'll meet them there."
11 Now while they were going, behold, some of the guards came into the city, and told the chief Kohanim all the things that had happened.
11
Meanwhile, the guards had scattered, but a few of them went into the city and told the high priests everything that had happened.
12 When they were assembled with the Zakenim, and had taken counsel, they gave a large amount of silver to the soldiers,
12
They called a meeting of the religious leaders and came up with a plan: They took a large sum of money and gave it to the soldiers,
13 saying, "Say that his talmidim came by night, and stole him away while we slept.
13
bribing them to say, "His disciples came in the night and stole the body while we were sleeping."
14 If this comes to the governor's ears, we will persuade him and make you free of worry."
14
They assured them, "If the governor hears about your sleeping on duty, we will make sure you don't get blamed."
15 So they took the money and did as they were told. This saying was spread abroad among the Yehudim, and continues until this day.
15
The soldiers took the bribe and did as they were told. That story, cooked up in the Jewish High Council, is still going around.
16 But the eleven talmidim went into the Galil, to the mountain where Yeshua had sent them.
16
Meanwhile, the eleven disciples were on their way to Galilee, headed for the mountain Jesus had set for their reunion.
17 When they saw him, they bowed down to him, but some doubted.
17
The moment they saw him they worshiped him. Some, though, held back, not sure about worship, about risking themselves totally.
18 Yeshua came to them and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on eretz.
18
Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: "God authorized and commanded me to commission you:
19 Go, and make talmidim of all nations, immersing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Ruach HaKodesh,
19
Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
20 teaching them to observe all things which I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amein.
20
Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I'll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age."
