1 Aconteció que cuando la muralla fue reedificada y había yo asentado las puertas y habían sido designados los porteros, los cantores y los levitas,

2 puse al frente de Jerusalén a mi hermano Hananí y a Hananías, jefe de la fortaleza, porque éste era hombre fiel y temeroso de Dios más que muchos;

3 y les dije: No se abrirán las puertas de Jerusalén hasta que caliente el sol; y estando todavía los porteros en sus puestos, se cerrarán y atrancarán las puertas. Designad también guardias de los habitantes de Jerusalén, unos en su puesto de guardia, y otros delante de su casa.

4 Y la ciudad era espaciosa y grande, pero el pueblo dentro de ella era poco y no había casas reedificadas.

5 Entonces mi Dios puso en mi corazón reunir a los nobles, a los oficiales y al pueblo para que fueran inscritos por genealogías. Y encontré el libro de la genealogía de los que habían subido primero, y hallé escrito en él:

6 Estos son los hijos de la provincia que subieron de la cautividad, aquellos que Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, había llevado cautivos y que volvieron a Jerusalén y a Judá, cada uno a su ciudad,

7 los cuales vinieron con Zorobabel, Jesúa, Nehemías, Azarías, Raamías, Nahamaní, Mardoqueo, Bilsán, Misperet, Bigvai, Nehum y Baana. El número de hombres del pueblo de Israel:

8 los hijos de Paros, dos mil ciento setenta y dos;

9 los hijos de Sefatías, trescientos setenta y dos;

10 los hijos de Ara, seiscientos cincuenta y dos;

11 los hijos de Pahat-moab, de los hijos de Jesúa y de Joab, dos mil ochocientos dieciocho;

12 los hijos de Elam, mil doscientos cincuenta y cuatro;

13 los hijos de Zatu, ochocientos cuarenta y cinco;

14 los hijos de Zacai, setecientos sesenta;

15 los hijos de Binúi, seiscientos cuarenta y ocho;

16 los hijos de Bebai, seiscientos veintiocho;

17 los hijos de Azgad, dos mil trescientos veintidós;

18 los hijos de Adonicam, seiscientos sesenta y siete;

19 los hijos de Bigvai, dos mil sesenta y siete;

21 los hijos de Ater, de Ezequías, noventa y ocho;

24 los hijos de Harif, ciento doce;

25 los hijos de Gabaón, noventa y cinco;

26 los hombres de Belén y Netofa, ciento ochenta y ocho;

27 los hombres de Anatot, ciento veintiocho;

28 los hombres de Bet-azmavet, cuarenta y dos;

29 los hombres de Quiriat-jearim, Cafira y Beerot, setecientos cuarenta y tres;

30 los hombres de Ramá y Geba, seiscientos veintiuno;

31 los hombres de Micmas, ciento veintidós;

32 los hombres de Betel y Hai, ciento veintitrés;

33 los hombres del otro Nebo, cincuenta y dos;

34 los hijos del otro Elam, mil doscientos cincuenta y cuatro;

35 los hijos de Harim, trescientos veinte;

36 los hombres de Jericó, trescientos cuarenta y cinco;

37 los hijos de Lod, Hadid y Ono, setecientos veintiuno;

38 los hijos de Senaa, tres mil novecientos treinta.

39 Los sacerdotes: los hijos de Jedaías de la casa de Jesúa, novecientos setenta y tres;

40 los hijos de Imer, mil cincuenta y dos;

41 los hijos de Pasur, mil doscientos cuarenta y siete;

42 los hijos de Harim, mil diecisiete.

43 Los levitas: los hijos de Jesúa y de Cadmiel, de los hijos de Hodavías, setenta y cuatro.

44 Los cantores: los hijos de Asaf, ciento cuarenta y ocho.

45 Los porteros: los hijos de Salum, los hijos de Ater, los hijos de Talmón, los hijos de Acub, los hijos de Hatita, los hijos de Sobai, ciento treinta y ocho.

46 Los sirvientes del templo: los hijos de Ziha, los hijos de Hasufa, los hijos de Tabaot,

47 los hijos de Queros, los hijos de Siaha, los hijos de Padón,

48 los hijos de Lebana, los hijos de Hagaba, los hijos de Salmai,

49 los hijos de Hanán, los hijos de Gidel, los hijos de Gahar,

50 los hijos de Reaía, los hijos de Rezín, los hijos de Necoda,

51 los hijos de Gazam, los hijos de Uza, los hijos de Paseah,

52 los hijos de Besai, los hijos de Mehunim, los hijos de Nefisesim,

53 los hijos de Bacbuc, los hijos de Hacufa, los hijos de Harhur,

54 los hijos de Bazlut, los hijos de Mehída, los hijos de Harsa,

55 los hijos de Barcos, los hijos de Sísara, los hijos de Tema,

56 los hijos de Nezía, los hijos de Hatifa.

57 Los hijos de los siervos de Salomón: los hijos de Sotai, los hijos de Soferet, los hijos de Perida,

58 los hijos de Jaala, los hijos de Darcón, los hijos de Gidel,

59 los hijos de Sefatías, los hijos de Hatil, los hijos de Poqueret-hazebaim, los hijos de Amón.

60 El total de los sirvientes del templo y de los hijos de los siervos de Salomón, era de trescientos noventa y dos.

61 Y estos fueron los que subieron de Tel-mela, Tel-harsa, Querub, Adón e Imer, aunque no pudieron demostrar si sus casas paternas o su descendencia eran de Israel:

62 los hijos de Delaía, los hijos de Tobías, los hijos de Necoda, seiscientos cuarenta y dos;

63 y de los sacerdotes: los hijos de Habaía, los hijos de Cos, los hijos de Barzilai, que había tomado por mujer a una de las hijas de Barzilai galaadita, con cuyo nombre fue llamado.

64 Estos buscaron en su registro de genealogías pero no se hallaron, y fueron considerados inmundos y excluidos del sacerdocio.

65 Y el gobernador les dijo que no comieran de las cosas santísimas hasta que un sacerdote se levantara con Urim y Tumim.

66 Toda la asamblea reunida era de cuarenta y dos mil trescientos sesenta,

67 sin contar sus siervos y siervas, que eran siete mil trescientos treinta y siete; y tenían doscientos cuarenta y cinco cantores y cantoras.

68 Sus caballos eran setecientos treinta y seis; sus mulos, doscientos cuarenta y cinco ;

69 sus camellos, cuatrocientos treinta y cinco; sus asnos, seis mil setecientos veinte.

70 Algunos de los jefes de casas paternas contribuyeron para la obra. El gobernador dio para el tesoro mil dracmas de oro, cincuenta tazones y quinientas treinta túnicas sacerdotales.

71 Los jefes de casas paternas dieron para el tesoro de la obra veinte mil dracmas de oro y dos mil doscientas minas de plata.

72 Lo que dio el resto del pueblo fue veinte mil dracmas de oro, dos mil minas de plata y sesenta y siete túnicas sacerdotales.

73 Y habitaron en sus ciudades, los sacerdotes, los levitas, los porteros, los cantores, algunos del pueblo, los sirvientes del templo y el resto de Israel. Cuando llegó el mes séptimo, los hijos de Israel ya estaban en sus ciudades.

1 Now when the wall was rebuilt and I had set up the doors, and the gatekeepers and the singers and the Levites were appointed,

2 then I put Hanani my brother, and Hananiah the commander of the fortress, in charge of Jerusalem, for he was a faithful man and feared God more than many.

3 Then I said to them, "Do not let the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun is hot, and while they are standing guard, let them shut and bolt the doors. Also appoint guards from the inhabitants of Jerusalem, each at his post, and each in front of his own house."

4 Now the city was large and spacious, but the people in it were few and the houses were not built.

5 Then my God put it into my heart to assemble the nobles, the officials and the people to be enrolled by genealogies. Then I found the book of the genealogy of those who came up first in which I found the following record:

6 These are the people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and who returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his city,

7 who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. The number of men of the people of Israel:

8 the sons of Parosh, 2,172 ;

9 the sons of Shephatiah, 372 ;

10 the sons of Arah, 652 ;

11 the sons of Pahath-moab of the sons of Jeshua and Joab, 2,818 ;

12 the sons of Elam, 1,254 ;

13 the sons of Zattu, 845 ;

49 the sons of Hanan, the sons of Giddel, the sons of Gahar,

50 the sons of Reaiah, the sons of Rezin, the sons of Nekoda,

51 the sons of Gazzam, the sons of Uzza, the sons of Paseah,

52 the sons of Besai, the sons of Meunim, the sons of Nephushesim,

53 the sons of Bakbuk, the sons of Hakupha, the sons of Harhur,

54 the sons of Bazlith, the sons of Mehida, the sons of Harsha,

55 the sons of Barkos, the sons of Sisera, the sons of Temah,

56 the sons of Neziah, the sons of Hatipha.

57 The sons of Solomon's servants: the sons of Sotai, the sons of Sophereth, the sons of Perida,

58 the sons of Jaala, the sons of Darkon, the sons of Giddel,

59 the sons of Shephatiah, the sons of Hattil, the sons of Pochereth-hazzebaim, the sons of Amon.

60 All the temple servants and the sons of Solomon's servants were 392 .

61 These were they who came up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addon and Immer; but they could not show their fathers' houses or their descendants, whether they were of Israel:

62 the sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, the sons of Nekoda, 642 .

63 Of the priests: the sons of Hobaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, the sons of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai, the Gileadite, and was named after them.

64 These searched among their ancestral registration , but it could not be located; therefore they were considered unclean and excluded from the priesthood.

65 The governor said to them that they should not eat from the most holy things until a priest arose with Urim and Thummim.

66 The whole assembly together was 42,360 ,

67 besides their male and their female servants , of whom there were 7,337 ; and they had 245 male and female singers.

68 Their horses were 736 ; their mules, 245 ;

69 their camels, 435 ; their donkeys, 6,720 .

70 Some from among the heads of fathers' households gave to the work. The governor gave to the treasury 1,000 gold drachmas, 50 basins, 530 priests' garments.

71 Some of the heads of fathers' households gave into the treasury of the work 20,000 gold drachmas and 2,200 silver minas.

72 That which the rest of the people gave was 20,000 gold drachmas and 2,000 silver minas and 67 priests' garments.

73 Now the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, some of the people, the temple servants and all Israel, lived in their cities. And when the seventh month came, the sons of Israel were in their cities.
