2 Cargos contra una esposa infiel<br />»Pero ahora, presenten cargos contra su madre Israel,<br />porque ya no es mi esposa,<br />ni yo soy su esposo.<br />Díganle que se quite del rostro el maquillaje de prostituta<br />y la ropa que muestra sus pechos.

3 De lo contrario, la desnudaré por completo,<br />como estaba el día en que nació.<br />Dejaré que muera de sed,<br />como en un desierto desolado y árido.

4 No amaré a sus hijos<br />porque fueron concebidos en la prostitución.

5 Su madre es una prostituta descarada<br />y quedó embarazada de una manera vergonzosa.<br />Dijo: “Iré tras otros amantes<br />y me venderé a cambio de comida y agua,<br />a cambio de ropa de lana y lino,<br />también a cambio de aceite de oliva y bebidas”.

6 »Por esta razón la cercaré con espinos.<br />Cerraré su paso con un muro<br />para que pierda su rumbo.

7 Cuando corra tras sus amantes,<br />no podrá alcanzarlos.<br />Los buscará<br />pero no los encontrará.<br />Entonces pensará:<br />“Mejor me sería volver a mi esposo<br />porque con él estaba mejor que ahora”.

8 Ella no se da cuenta de que fui yo quien le dio todo lo que tiene:<br />grano, vino nuevo y aceite de oliva;<br />hasta le di plata y oro.<br />Pero ella le ofreció todos mis regalos a Baal.

9 »Sin embargo, ahora le quitaré el grano maduro y el vino nuevo<br />que generosamente le di en cada cosecha.<br />Le quitaré la ropa de lino y lana<br />que le di para cubrir su desnudez.

10 La desnudaré por completo en público,<br />a la vista de todos sus amantes.<br />Nadie podrá librarla<br />de mis manos.

11 Pondré fin a sus festivales anuales,<br />celebraciones de luna nueva y sus días de descanso:<br />todos sus festivales establecidos.

12 Destruiré sus vides y sus higueras,<br />las cuales, según ella, le dieron sus amantes.<br />Dejaré que crezcan hasta que se conviertan en espesos matorrales<br />de los que solo los animales salvajes comerán su fruto.

13 La castigaré por todas las ocasiones<br />en que quemaba incienso a las imágenes de Baal,<br />cuando se ponía aretes y joyas<br />y salía a buscar a sus amantes,<br />olvidándose de mí por completo<br />—dice el Señor<br />—.

14 El amor del Señor<br /> por un Israel infiel<br />»Pero luego volveré a conquistarla.<br />La llevaré al desierto<br />y allí le hablaré tiernamente.

15 Le devolveré sus viñedos<br />y convertiré el valle de la Aflicción<br /> en una puerta de esperanza.<br />Allí se me entregará<br />como lo hizo hace mucho tiempo cuando era joven,<br />cuando la liberé de su esclavitud en Egipto.

16 Al llegar ese día —dice el Señor<br />—,<br />me llamarás “esposo mío”<br />en vez de “mi señor”<br />.

17 Oh Israel, yo borraré los muchos nombres de Baal de tus labios<br />y nunca más los mencionarás.

18 En ese día haré un pacto<br />con todos los animales salvajes, las aves de los cielos<br />y los animales que corren sobre la tierra,<br />para que no te hagan daño.<br />Quitaré de la tierra todas las armas de guerra,<br />todas las espadas y todos los arcos,<br />para que puedas vivir sin temor,<br />en paz y seguridad.

19 Te haré mi esposa para siempre,<br />mostrándote rectitud y justicia,<br />amor inagotable y compasión.

20 Te seré fiel y te haré mía<br />y por fin me conocerás como el Señor<br />.

21 »En ese día, yo responderé<br />—dice el Señor<br />—.<br />Le responderé al cielo cuando clame por nubes,<br />y el cielo contestará a la tierra con lluvia.

22 Entonces la tierra responderá a los clamores sedientos<br />del grano, de las vides y de los olivos.<br />Y ellos a su vez responderán:<br />“Jezreel” que significa “¡Dios siembra!”.

23 En ese tiempo yo sembraré una cosecha de israelitas<br />y los haré crecer para mí.<br />Demostraré amor<br />a los que antes llamé “no amados”<br />.<br />Y a los que llamé “no son mi pueblo”<br />,<br />yo diré: “Ahora son mi pueblo”.<br />Y ellos responderán: “¡Tú eres nuestro Dios!”».

1 “Say of your brothers, ‘My people,’ and of your sisters, ‘My loved one.’

2 “Rebuke your mother, rebuke her, for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband. Let her remove the adulterous look from her face and the unfaithfulness from between her breasts.

3 Otherwise I will strip her naked and make her as bare as on the day she was born; I will make her like a desert, turn her into a parched land, and slay her with thirst.

4 I will not show my love to her children, because they are the children of adultery.

5 Their mother has been unfaithful and has conceived them in disgrace. She said, ‘I will go after my lovers, who give me my food and my water, my wool and my linen, my olive oil and my drink.’

6 Therefore I will block her path with thornbushes; I will wall her in so that she cannot find her way.

7 She will chase after her lovers but not catch them; she will look for them but not find them. Then she will say, ‘I will go back to my husband as at first, for then I was better off than now.’

8 She has not acknowledged that I was the one who gave her the grain, the new wine and oil, who lavished on her the silver and gold— which they used for Baal.

9 “Therefore I will take away my grain when it ripens, and my new wine when it is ready. I will take back my wool and my linen, intended to cover her naked body.

10 So now I will expose her lewdness before the eyes of her lovers; no one will take her out of my hands.

11 I will stop all her celebrations: her yearly festivals, her New Moons, her Sabbath days—all her appointed festivals.

12 I will ruin her vines and her fig trees, which she said were her pay from her lovers; I will make them a thicket, and wild animals will devour them.

13 I will punish her for the days she burned incense to the Baals; she decked herself with rings and jewelry, and went after her lovers, but me she forgot,” declares the LORD.

14 “Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her.

15 There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. There she will respond as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt.

16 “In that day,” declares the LORD, “you will call me ‘my husband’; you will no longer call me ‘my master. ’

17 I will remove the names of the Baals from her lips; no longer will their names be invoked.

18 In that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky and the creatures that move along the ground. Bow and sword and battle I will abolish from the land, so that all may lie down in safety.

19 I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion.

20 I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the LORD.

21 “In that day I will respond,” declares the LORD— “I will respond to the skies, and they will respond to the earth;

22 and the earth will respond to the grain, the new wine and the olive oil, and they will respond to Jezreel.

23 I will plant her for myself in the land; I will show my love to the one I called ‘Not my loved one. ’ I will say to those called ‘Not my people, ’ ‘You are my people’; and they will say, ‘You are my God.’ ”
