1 Llamado de la Sabiduría<br />¡Escuchen cuando la Sabiduría llama!<br />¡Oigan cuando el entendimiento alza su voz!

Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?
2 La Sabiduría toma su puesto en las encrucijadas,<br />en la cumbre de la colina, junto al camino.

At the highest point along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
3 Junto a las puertas de entrada a la ciudad,<br />en el camino de ingreso, grita con fuerza:

beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud:
4 «¡A ustedes los llamo, a todos ustedes!<br />Levanto mi voz a toda persona.

“To you, O people, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind.
5 Ustedes, ingenuos, usen el buen juicio.<br />Ustedes, necios, muestren un poco de entendimiento.

You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, set your hearts on it.
6 ¡Escúchenme! Tengo cosas importantes que decirles.<br />Todo lo que digo es correcto

Listen, for I have trustworthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right.
7 pues hablo la verdad<br />y detesto toda clase de engaño.

My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness.
8 Mi consejo es sano;<br />no tiene artimañas ni falsedad.

All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse.
9 Mis palabras son obvias para todos los que tienen entendimiento,<br />claras para los que poseen conocimiento.

To the discerning all of them are right; they are upright to those who have found knowledge.
10 Elijan mi instrucción en lugar de la plata<br />y el conocimiento antes que el oro puro.

Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold,
11 Pues la sabiduría es mucho más valiosa que los rubíes.<br />Nada de lo que uno pueda desear se compara con ella.

for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
12 »Yo, la Sabiduría, convivo con el buen juicio.<br />Sé dónde encontrar conocimiento y discernimiento.

“I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion.
13 Todos los que temen al Señor<br /> odiarán la maldad.<br />Por eso odio el orgullo y la arrogancia,<br />la corrupción y el lenguaje perverso.

To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.
14 El sentido común y el éxito me pertenecen.<br />La fuerza y la inteligencia son mías.

Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have insight, I have power.
15 Gracias a mí reinan los reyes<br />y los gobernantes dictan decretos justos.

By me kings reign and rulers issue decrees that are just;
16 Los mandatarios gobiernan con mi ayuda<br />y los nobles emiten juicios justos.

by me princes govern, and nobles—all who rule on earth.
17 »Amo a todos los que me aman.<br />Los que me buscan, me encontrarán.

I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.
18 Tengo riquezas y honor,<br />así como justicia y prosperidad duraderas.

With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.
19 ¡Mis dones son mejores que el oro, aun el oro más puro;<br />mi paga es mejor que la plata refinada!

My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.
20 Camino en rectitud,<br />por senderos de justicia.

I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,
21 Los que me aman heredan riquezas;<br />llenaré sus cofres de tesoros.

bestowing a rich inheritance on those who love me and making their treasuries full.

“The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works,before his deeds of old;
23 Fui nombrada desde la eternidad,<br />en el principio mismo, antes de que existiera la tierra.

I was formed long ages ago, at the very beginning, when the world came to be.
24 Nací antes de que los océanos fueran creados,<br />antes de que brotara agua de los manantiales.

When there were no watery depths, I was given birth, when there were no springs overflowing with water;
25 Antes de que se formaran las montañas,<br />antes que las colinas, yo nací,

before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth,
26 antes de que el Señor<br /> hiciera la tierra y los campos<br />y los primeros puñados de tierra.

before he made the world or its fields or any of the dust of the earth.
27 Estaba presente cuando él estableció los cielos,<br />cuando trazó el horizonte sobre los océanos.

I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,
28 Estaba ahí cuando colocó las nubes arriba,<br />cuando estableció los manantiales en lo profundo de la tierra.

when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,
29 Estaba ahí cuando puso límites a los mares,<br />para que no se extendieran más allá de sus márgenes.<br />Y también cuando demarcó los cimientos de la tierra,

when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.

Then I was constantly at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence,
31 ¡Qué feliz me puse con el mundo que él creó;<br />cuánto me alegré con la familia humana!

rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.
32 »Y ahora, hijos míos, escúchenme,<br />pues todos los que siguen mis caminos son felices.

“Now then, my children, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways.
33 Escuchen mi instrucción y sean sabios;<br />no la pasen por alto.

Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not disregard it.
34 ¡Alegres son los que me escuchan,<br />y están atentos a mis puertas día tras día,<br />y me esperan afuera de mi casa!

Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.
35 Pues todo el que me encuentra, halla la vida<br />y recibe el favor del Señor<br />.

For those who find me find life and receive favor from the LORD.
36 Pero el que no me encuentra se perjudica a sí mismo.<br />Todos los que me odian aman la muerte».

But those who fail to find me harm themselves; all who hate me love death.”
