Psalm 1

NCV 1 Happy are those who don't listen to the wicked, who don't go where sinners go, who don't do what evil people do. NIV 1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, NCV 2 They love the Lord's teachings, and they think about those teachings day and night. NIV 2 but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. NCV 3 They are strong, like a tree planted by a river. The tree produces fruit in season, and its leaves don't die. Everything they do will succeed. NIV 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. NCV 4 But wicked people are not like that. They are like chaff that the wind blows away. NIV 4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. NCV 5 So the wicked will not escape God's punishment. Sinners will not worship with God's people. NIV 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. NCV 6 This is because the Lord takes care of his people, but the wicked will be destroyed. NIV 6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
