Psalm 149

CEB 1 Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song; sing God's praise in the assembly of the faithful! NRS 1 Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the faithful. CEB 2 Let Israel celebrate its maker; let Zion's children rejoice in their king! NRS 2 Let Israel be glad in its Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King. CEB 3 Let them praise God's name with dance; let them sing God's praise with the drum and lyre! NRS 3 Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre. CEB 4 Because the LORD is pleased with his people, God will beautify the poor with saving help. NRS 4 For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with victory. CEB 5 Let the faithful celebrate with glory; let them shout for joy on their beds. NRS 5 Let the faithful exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their couches. CEB 6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, NRS 6 Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands, CEB 7 to get revenge against the nations and punishment on the peoples, NRS 7 to execute vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, CEB 8 binding their rulers in chains and their officials in iron shackles, NRS 8 to bind their kings with fetters and their nobles with chains of iron, CEB 9 achieving the justice written against them. That will be an honor for all God's faithful people. Praise the LORD! NRS 9 to execute on them the judgment decreed. This is glory for all his faithful ones. Praise the Lord!
