Psalm 27

CEBA 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation. Should I fear anyone? The LORD is a fortress protecting my life. Should I be frightened of anything? NIV 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? CEBA 2 When evildoers come at me trying to eat me up— it's they, my foes and my enemies, who stumble and fall! NIV 2 When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. CEBA 3 If an army camps against me, my heart won't be afraid. If war comes up against me, I will continue to trust in this: NIV 3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. CEBA 4 I have asked one thing from the LORD— it's all I seek— to live in the LORD's house all the days of my life, seeing the LORD's beauty and constantly adoring his temple. NIV 4 One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. CEBA 5 Because he will shelter me in his own dwelling during troubling times; he will hide me in a secret place in his own tent; he will set me up high, safe on a rock. NIV 5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock. CEBA 6 Now my head is higher than the enemies surrounding me, and I will offer sacrifices in God's tent— sacrifices with shouts of joy! I will sing and praise the LORD. NIV 6 Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD. CEBA 7 LORD, listen to my voice when I cry out— have mercy on me and answer me! NIV 7 Hear my voice when I call, LORD; be merciful to me and answer me. CEBA 8 Come, my heart says, seek God's face. LORD, I do seek your face! NIV 8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek. CEBA 9 Please don't hide it from me! Don't push your servant aside angrily— you have been my help! God who saves me, don't neglect me! Don't leave me all alone! NIV 9 Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior. CEBA 10 Even if my father and mother left me all alone, the LORD would take me in. NIV 10 Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me. CEBA 11 LORD, teach me your way; because of my opponents, lead me on a good path. NIV 11 Teach me your way, LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. CEBA 12 Don't give me over to the desires of my enemies, because false witnesses and violent accusers have taken their stand against me. NIV 12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations. CEBA 13 But I have sure faith that I will experience the LORD's goodness in the land of the living! NIV 13 I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. CEBA 14 Hope in the LORD! Be strong! Let your heart take courage! Hope in the LORD! NIV 14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
