1 When the LORD shall turn again the captivity of Zion, we shall be like those that dream.

When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed.
2 Then our mouth shall be filled with laughter and our tongue with singing; then they shall say among the Gentiles, The LORD has done great things with them.

Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.”
3 The LORD has done great things with us, <em>of which</em> we shall be glad.

The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.
4 Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south.

Restore our fortunes,LORD, like streams in the Negev.
5 Those that sow with tears shall reap with joy.

Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.
6 He that goes forth and weeps, bearing the precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves <em>with him</em>.

Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.
