New Living Translation NLT
The Message Bible MSG
1 Praise the LORD ! Let all that I am praise the LORD .
1
Hallelujah! O my soul, praise God!
2 I will praise the LORD as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath.
2
All my life long I'll praise God, singing songs to my God as long as I live.
3 Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there.
3
Don't put your life in the hands of experts who know nothing of life, of salvation life.
4 When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them.
4
Mere humans don't have what it takes; when they die, their projects die with them.
5 But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the LORD their God.
5
Instead, get help from the God of Jacob, put your hope in God and know real blessing!
6 He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever.
6
God made sky and soil, sea and all the fish in it. He always does what he says -
7 He gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners.
7
he defends the wronged, he feeds the hungry. God frees prisoners -
8 The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are weighed down. The LORD loves the godly.
8
he gives sight to the blind, he lifts up the fallen.
9 The LORD protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.
9
protects strangers, takes the side of orphans and widows, but makes short work of the wicked.
10 The LORD will reign forever. He will be your God, O Jerusalem, throughout the generations. Praise the LORD !
10
God's in charge - always. Zion's God is God for good! Hallelujah!
