GOD'S WORD Translation

New International Version

Psalm 53

GW 1 Godless fools say in their hearts, "There is no God." They are corrupt. They do disgusting things. There is no one who does good things. NIV 1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no one who does good. GW 2 God looks down from heaven on Adam's descendants to see if there is anyone who acts wisely, if there is anyone who seeks help from God. NIV 2 God looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. GW 3 Everyone has fallen away. Together they have become rotten to the core. No one, not even one person, does good things. NIV 3 Everyone has turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. GW 4 Are all those troublemakers, those who devour my people as if they were devouring food, so ignorant that they do not call on God? NIV 4 Do all these evildoers know nothing? They devour my people as though eating bread; they never call on God. GW 5 There they are--panic-stricken-- [but] there was no reason to panic, because God has scattered the bones of those who set up camp against you. You put them to shame. After all, God has rejected them. NIV 5 But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, where there was nothing to dread. God scattered the bones of those who attacked you; you put them to shame, for God despised them. GW 6 If only salvation for Israel would come from Zion! When God restores the fortunes of his people, Jacob will rejoice. Israel will be glad. NIV 6 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When God restores his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
