GOD'S WORD Translation GW
1 <<To the chief musician: On Neginoth. Maschil. A Psalm of David, when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, "Doth not David hide himself with us?">> Save me, O God, by Thy name, and judge me by Thy strength.
1
O God, save me by your name, and defend me with your might.
2 Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.
2
O God, hear my prayer, and open your ears to the words from my mouth.
3 For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul; they have not set God before them. Selah
3
Strangers have attacked me. Ruthless people seek my life. They do not think about God. Selah
4 Behold, God is mine helper; the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.
4
God is my helper! The Lord is the provider for my life.
5 He shall reward evil unto mine enemies; cut them off in Thy truth.
5
My enemies spy on me. Pay them back with evil. Destroy them with your truth!
6 I will freely sacrifice unto Thee; I will praise Thy name, O LORD, for it is good.
6
I will make a sacrifice to you along with a freewill offering. I will give thanks to your good name, O LORD.
7 For He hath delivered me out of all trouble, and mine eye hath seen my desire upon mine enemies.
7
Your name rescues me from every trouble. My eyes will gloat over my enemies.
