1 <<To the chief musician: Upon Neginah. A Psalm of David.>> Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
1 Listen to my cry for help, O God. Pay attention to my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto Thee when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
2 From the ends of the earth, I call to you when I begin to lose heart. Lead me to the rock that is high above me.
3 For Thou hast been a shelter for me and a strong tower from the enemy.
3 You have been my refuge, a tower of strength against the enemy.
4 I will abide in Thy tabernacle for ever; I will trust in the refuge of Thy wings. Selah
4 I would like to be a guest in your tent forever and to take refuge under the protection of your wings. Selah
5 For Thou, O God, hast heard my vows; Thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear Thy name.
5 O God, you have heard my vows. You have given me the inheritance that belongs to those who fear your name.
6 Thou wilt prolong the king's life, and his years shall be as many generations.
6 Add days upon days to the life of the king. May his years endure throughout every generation.
7 He shall abide before God for ever; O prepare mercy and truth, that they may preserve him.
7 May he sit enthroned in the presence of God forever. May mercy and truth protect him.
8 So will I sing praise unto Thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.
8 Then I will make music to praise your name forever, as I keep my vows day after day.
