Psalms 66

New International Version NIV

1 Shout for joy to God, all the earth!

2 Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious.

3 Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you.

4 All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing the praises of your name.”

5 Come and see what God has done, his awesome deeds for mankind!

6 He turned the sea into dry land, they passed through the waters on foot— come, let us rejoice in him.

7 He rules forever by his power, his eyes watch the nations— let not the rebellious rise up against him.

8 Praise our God, all peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard;

9 he has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping.

10 For you, God, tested us; you refined us like silver.

11 You brought us into prison and laid burdens on our backs.

12 You let people ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance.

13 I will come to your temple with burnt offerings and fulfill my vows to you—

14 vows my lips promised and my mouth spoke when I was in trouble.

15 I will sacrifice fat animals to you and an offering of rams; I will offer bulls and goats.

16 Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me.

17 I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue.

18 If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened;

19 but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer.

20 Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!

1 (65-1) <Unto the end, a canticle of a psalm of the resurrection.> Shout with joy to God, all the earth,

2 (65-2) Sing ye a psalm to his name; give glory to his praise.

3 (65-3) Say unto God, How terrible are thy works, O Lord! in the multitude of thy strength thy enemies shall lie to thee.

4 (65-4) Let all the earth adore thee, and sing to thee: let it sing a psalm to thy name.

5 (65-5) Come and see the works of God; who is terrible in his counsels over the sons of men.

6 (65-6) Who turneth the sea into dry land, in the river they shall pass on foot: there shall we rejoice in him.

7 (65-7) Who by his power ruleth for ever: his eyes behold the nations; let not them that provoke him be exalted in themselves.

8 (65-8) O bless our God, ye Gentiles: and make the voice of his praise to be heard.

9 (65-9) Who hath set my soul to live: and hath not suffered my feet to be moved:

10 (65-10) For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us by fire, as silver is tried.

11 (65-11) Thou hast brought us into a net, thou hast laid afflictions on our back:

12 (65-12) Thou hast set men over our heads. We have passed through fire and water, and thou hast brought us out into a refreshment.

13 (65-13) I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows,

14 (65-14) Which my lips have uttered, And my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.

15 (65-15) I will offer up to thee holocausts full of marrow, with burnt offerings of rams: I will offer to thee bullocks with goats.

16 (65-16) Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will tell you what great things he hath done for my soul.

17 (65-17) I cried to him with my mouth: and I extolled him with my tongue.

18 (65-18) If I have looked at iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.

19 (65-19) Therefore hath God heard me, and hath attended to the voice of my supplication.

20 (65-20) Blessed be God, who hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.
