1 Salmo 137<br />Junto a los ríos de Babilonia, nos sentamos y lloramos<br />al pensar en Jerusalén.

2 Guardamos las arpas,<br />las colgamos en las ramas de los álamos.

3 Pues nuestros captores nos exigían que cantáramos;<br />los que nos atormentaban insistían en un himno de alegría:<br />«¡Cántennos una de esas canciones acerca de Jerusalén!».

4 ¿Pero cómo podemos entonar las canciones del Señor<br />mientras estamos en una tierra pagana?

5 Si me olvido de ti, oh Jerusalén,<br />que mi mano derecha se olvide de cómo tocar el arpa.

6 Que la lengua se me pegue al paladar<br />si dejo de recordarte,<br />si no hago de Jerusalén mi mayor alegría.

7 Oh Señor<br />, recuerda lo que hicieron los edomitas<br />el día en que los ejércitos de Babilonia tomaron a Jerusalén.<br />«¡Destrúyanla! —gritaron—.<br />¡Allánenla hasta reducirla a escombros!».

8 Oh Babilonia, serás destruida;<br />feliz será el que te haga pagar<br />por lo que nos has hecho.

9 ¡Feliz será el que tome a tus bebés<br />y los estrelle contra las rocas!

1 By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion.

2 There on the poplars we hung our harps,

3 for there our captors asked us for songs, our tormentors demanded songs of joy; they said, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”

4 How can we sing the songs of the LORD while in a foreign land?

5 If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill.

6 May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy.

7 Remember, LORD, what the Edomites did on the day Jerusalem fell. “Tear it down,” they cried, “tear it down to its foundations!”

8 Daughter Babylon, doomed to destruction, happy is the one who repays you according to what you have done to us.

9 Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.
