Hear this, all you peoples; listen, all who live in this world,
2 gente do povo, homens importantes,ricos e pobres igualmente:

both low and high, rich and poor alike:
3 A minha boca falará com sabedoria;a meditação do meu coração trará entendimento.

My mouth will speak words of wisdom; the meditation of my heart will give you understanding.
4 Inclinarei os meus ouvidos a um provérbio;com a harpa exporei o meu enigma:

I will turn my ear to a proverb; with the harp I will expound my riddle:
5 Por que deverei temer, quando vierem dias maus,quando inimigos traiçoeiros me cercarem,

Why should I fear when evil days come, when wicked deceivers surround me—
6 aqueles que confiam em seus bense se gabam de suas muitas riquezas?

those who trust in their wealth and boast of their great riches?
7 Homem algum pode redimir seu irmãoou pagar a Deus o preço de sua vida,

No one can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for them—
8 pois o resgate de uma vida não tem preço.Não há pagamento que o livre

the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough—
9 para que viva para sempree não sofra decomposição.

so that they should live on forever and not see decay.
10 Pois todos podem ver que os sábios morrem,como perecem o tolo e o insensatoe para outros deixam os seus bens.

For all can see that the wise die, that the foolish and the senseless also perish, leaving their wealth to others.
11 Seus túmulos serão sua morada para sempre,sua habitação de geração em geração,ainda que tenham dado seu nome a terras.

Their tombs will remain their houses forever, their dwellings for endless generations, though they had named lands after themselves.
12 O homem, mesmo que muito importante, não vive para sempre;é como os animais, que perecem.

People, despite their wealth, do not endure; they are like the beasts that perish.
13 Este é o destino dos que confiam em si mesmos,e dos seus seguidores, que aprovam o que eles dizem.

This is the fate of those who trust in themselves, and of their followers, who approve their sayings.
14 Como ovelhas, estão destinados à sepultura,e a morte lhes servirá de pastor.Pela manhã os justos triunfarão sobre eles!A aparência deles se desfará na sepultura,longe das suas gloriosas mansões.

They are like sheep and are destined to die; death will be their shepherd (but the upright will prevail over them in the morning). Their forms will decay in the grave, far from their princely mansions.
15 Mas Deus redimirá a minha vida da sepulturae me levará para si.

But God will redeem me from the realm of the dead; he will surely take me to himself.
16 Não se aborreça quando alguém se enriquecee aumenta o luxo de sua casa;

Do not be overawed when others grow rich, when the splendor of their houses increases;
17 pois nada levará consigo quando morrer;não descerá com ele o seu esplendor.

for they will take nothing with them when they die, their splendor will not descend with them.
18 Embora em vida ele se parabenize:“Todos o elogiam, pois você está prosperando”,

Though while they live they count themselves blessed— and people praise you when you prosper—
19 ele se juntará aos seus antepassados,que nunca mais verão a luz.

they will join those who have gone before them, who will never again see the light of life.
20 O homem, mesmo que muito importante, não tem entendimento;é como os animais, que perecem.

People who have wealth but lack understanding are like the beasts that perish.
