2 Samuel 11:1-6

1 Tendo decorrido um ano, no tempo em que os reis saem � guerra, Davi enviou Joabe, e com ele os seus servos e todo o Israel; e eles destruíram os amonitas, e sitiaram a Rabá. Porém Davi ficou em Jerusalem.

2 Ora, aconteceu que, numa tarde, Davi se levantou do seu leito e se pôs a passear no terraço da casa real; e do terraço viu uma mulher que se estava lavando; e era esta mulher mui formosa � vista.

3 Tendo Davi enviado a indagar a respeito daquela mulher, disseram-lhe: Porventura não é Bate-Seba, filha de Eliã, mulher de Urias, o heteu?

4 Então Davi mandou mensageiros para trazê-la; e ela veio a ele, e ele se deitou com ela (pois já estava purificada da sua imundícia); depois ela voltou para sua casa.

5 A mulher concebeu; e mandou dizer a Davi: Estou grávida.

6 Então Davi mandou dizer a Joabe: Envia-me Urias, o heteu. E Joabe o enviou a Davi.

This chapter begins with the destruction of the Ammonites, and the siege of Rabbah their chief city, 2Sa 11:1; and enlarges on the sins of David in committing adultery with Bathsheba, 2Sa 11:2-5; in contriving to conceal his sin by sending for her husband home from the army, 2Sa 11:6-13; in laying a scheme for the death of him by the hand of the Ammonites, 2Sa 11:14-25; and in marrying Bathsheba when he was dead, 2Sa 11:26,27.
