Deuteronomio 31:3-13

3 Sin embargo, el Señor
tu Dios sí cruzará delante de ti. Él destruirá a las naciones que viven allí, y tú tomarás posesión de esa tierra. Josué te guiará para cruzar el río, tal como el Señor
prometió.

4 »El Señor
destruirá a las naciones que viven en esa tierra, tal como destruyó a Sehón y a Og, los reyes de los amorreos.

5 El Señor
te entregará a los que viven allí, y tú tendrás que hacer con ellos lo que te ordené.

6 ¡Así que sé fuerte y valiente! No tengas miedo ni sientas pánico frente a ellos, porque el Señor
tu Dios, él mismo irá delante de ti. No te fallará ni te abandonará».

7 Luego Moisés mandó llamar a Josué y, en presencia de todo Israel, le dijo: «¡Sé fuerte y valiente! Pues tú guiarás a este pueblo a la tierra que el Señor
juró a sus antepasados que les daría. Tú serás quien la repartirá entre ellos y se la darás como sus porciones de tierra.

8 No temas ni te desalientes, porque el propio Señor
irá delante de ti. Él estará contigo; no te fallará ni te abandonará».

9 Lectura pública del libro de instrucción
Entonces Moisés escribió en un libro todo el conjunto de instrucciones y se lo dio a los sacerdotes que llevaban al arca del pacto del Señor
y a los ancianos de Israel.

10 Luego Moisés les dio la siguiente orden: «Al final de cada séptimo año —el año de liberación— y durante el Festival de las Enramadas,

11 leerán este libro de instrucción a todo el pueblo de Israel cuando se reúna ante el Señor
su Dios en el lugar que él elija.

12 Convoquen a todos —a hombres, mujeres, niños y a los extranjeros que vivan en sus ciudades— para que oigan lo que dice el libro de instrucción y aprendan a temer al Señor
su Dios y a obedecer cuidadosamente todas las condiciones de estas instrucciones.

13 Háganlo para que sus hijos que no saben nada de estas instrucciones, las oigan y aprendan a temer al Señor
su Dios. Háganlo mientras vivan en la tierra que van a poseer al cruzar el Jordán».

INTRODUCTION TO DEUTERONOMY 31

Moses being old, and knowing he should quickly die, and must not go over Jordan with the people of Israel, acquaints them with it, and encourages them and Joshua to go over notwithstanding, and not be afraid of their enemies, since the Lord would go with them, and deliver them into their hands, De 31:1-8; and having written the law, he delivered it to the priests, and ordered that it should be read at the end of every seven years before all the people, that they and theirs might learn it, and fear the Lord, De 31:9-13; and whereas the death of Moses was very near, and the Lord foreseeing the people would quickly fall into idolatry, which would bring great calamities upon them, he directed Moses to write a song, which should be a witness for him, and against them, in ages to come; which Moses accordingly did, De 31:14-22; and Moses having given a charge to Joshua, and finished the writing of the law in a book, gave it to the Levites to put it in the side of the ark, De 31:23-27; and then ordered the chief of the tribes to be gathered together, that he might deliver the song, which by the direction and under the inspiration of God he had written, De 31:28-30; which song is recorded in De 32:1-43.
