Has this been a tough Christmas for you and your family? Maybe you’re out of work and you really couldn’t afford to give to your loved ones like you normally do? Or perhaps you’ve experienced the death of a loved one, and this Christmas is a reminder that they’re no longer with you. We hope and pray today’s message will minister to you. As you’ll hear, the very first Christmas was very hard, painful and really nothing easy about it.

Times are tough to put it mildly. In some cases unbearable. With that said, as tough as they may have been, it may not have been as tough as the first Christmas. Why does it matter? We’ll talk about it today on Light on the Hill.

Charles Price We love the Christmas story. Every year we revisit it, but whatever happened to the peace on earth part? Was it just an idle, sentimental hope, a dream, wishful thinking, escapism, unrealistic? What is this peace? Jesus spoke about this later in his own life and ministry in John 14:27, speaking to His disciples, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Let not your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” Notice the contrast there: The peace the world gives is external, but the peace Jesus gives is internal. The diagnosis of the Bible is that the biggest problem we have in our world today is not out there. It's in the human heart.
