Everyone was excited to see life emerge from under the ruins of the recent devastating earthquake in Iran. In light of the horror, every rescue is celebrated. Particularly heartwarming is the story of one survivor, Sharbanou Mazandrani. It is remarkable that she survived for nine days in the rubble of the town of Bam. What is even more remarkable is that she is 97 years old. Though elderly, she found some way to survive. No one is sure where she could have found food or water. She survived with her feistiness intact. When served a cup of tea right after the rescue, she was able to complain it was too hot.
