Many European royals had the same name, so they often were differentiated by numbers such as Charles I, II or III. Even this became difficult to remember, so people gave their kings nicknames. There was Charles the Bold. That would be a good name. So would Leopold the Pious. There was Fredrick the Quarrelsome. How would you like to be known as Frederick the Quarrelsome? There was a Rudolf the Benefactor and Albrecht the Magnanimous. Those would be fine. If people nicknamed us, what would it be? Quarrelsome? Pious? Benefactor? Magnanimous? Bold? The choice is ours.
