6 Allora Jehu scrisse loro una seconda lettera, nella quale diceva: "Se voi siete per me e volete ubbidire alla mia voce, prendete le teste di quegli uomini, de’ figliuoli del vostro signore, e venite da me, domani a quest’ora, a Izreel". 2 Kings 10:6

Then he wrote a letter the second time to them
Having gained his point by the former:

saying, if ye be mine,
acknowledge yourselves my subjects and servants;

and if ye will hearken to my voice;
obey my commands:

take ye the heads of the men your master's sons;
that is, take off their heads:

and come to me to Jezreel by tomorrow this time
meaning with the heads along with them:

(now the king's sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of
the city, which brought them up;)
they were in their houses, and under their tuition, and so had an authority over them, and could dispose of them at pleasure; they were not ordinary persons to whose care they were committed, but the principal men of the city.

4 Ma quelli ebbero gran paura, e dissero: "Ecco, due re non gli han potuto resistere; come potremo resistergli noi?"

5 E il prefetto del palazzo, il governatore della città, gli anziani e gli educatori dei figliuoli di Achab mandarono a dire a Jehu: "Noi siamo tuoi servi, e faremo tutto quello che ci ordinerai; non eleggeremo alcuno come re; fa’ tu quel che ti piace".

6 Allora Jehu scrisse loro una seconda lettera, nella quale diceva: "Se voi siete per me e volete ubbidire alla mia voce, prendete le teste di quegli uomini, de’ figliuoli del vostro signore, e venite da me, domani a quest’ora, a Izreel". 7 E come questi ebbero ricevuta la lettera, presero i figliuoli del re, li scannarono tutti e settanta; poi misero le loro teste in ceste, e le mandarono a Jehu a Izreel.

8 E un messo venne a Jehu a recargli la notizia, dicendo: "Hanno portato le teste dei figliuoli del re". Jehu rispose: "Mettetele in due mucchi all’entrata della porta, fino a domattina".
