31 Perciò l’uomo lascerà suo padre e sua madre e s’unirà a sua moglie, e i due diverranno una stessa carne.

Ephesians 5:31

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother,
&c.] These words contain the law of marriage, and are cited from ( Genesis 2:24 ) ; and declare what ought to be, and are a prophecy of what should be; and are observed against polygamy, and to stir up mutual affection; (See Gill on Matthew 19:5).

29 Poiché niuno ebbe mai in odio la sua carne; anzi la nutre e la cura teneramente, come anche Cristo fa per la Chiesa,

30 poiché noi siamo membra del suo corpo.

31 Perciò l’uomo lascerà suo padre e sua madre e s’unirà a sua moglie, e i due diverranno una stessa carne.

32 Questo mistero è grande; dico questo, riguardo a Cristo ed alla Chiesa.

33 Ma d’altronde, anche fra voi, ciascuno individualmente così ami sua moglie, come ama se stesso; e altresì la moglie rispetti il marito.
