Esdra 5:16

16 Allora lo stesso Sceshbatsar venne e gettò le fondamenta della casa di Dio a Gerusalemme; da quel tempo fino ad ora essa è in costruzione, ma non è ancora finita.

Ezra 5:16

Then came the same Sheshbazzar, and laid the foundation of the
house of God which is in Jerusalem
Which makes it clear, that by Sheshbazzar is meant Zerubbabel; for he it was that laid the foundation of the temple, or at least by whose order it was laid, see ( Zechariah 4:9 )

and since that time even until now;
from the first of Cyrus to the second of Darius, a space of about eighteen years, and just seventy from the destruction of the temple:

hath it been in building, and yet it is not finished;
the work going on slowly, not without interruption and intermission, through the enmity of the Samaritans unto them, who had made false representations of them; but these men, Tatnai and those with him, as the Jews gave them a very particular account of things, as above, so they fairly and fully related them in this their letter to the king.

14 E il re Ciro trasse pure dal tempio di Babilonia gli utensili d’oro e d’argento della casa di Dio, che Nebucadnetsar avea portati via dal tempio di Gerusalemme e trasportati nel tempio di Babilonia; li fece consegnare a uno chiamato Sceshbatsar, ch’egli aveva fatto governatore, e gli disse:

15 Prendi questi utensili, va’ a riporli nel tempio di Gerusalemme, e la casa di Dio sia riedificata dov’era.

16 Allora lo stesso Sceshbatsar venne e gettò le fondamenta della casa di Dio a Gerusalemme; da quel tempo fino ad ora essa è in costruzione, ma non è ancora finita.

17 Or dunque, se così piaccia al re, si faccian delle ricerche nella casa dei tesori del re a Babilonia, per accertare se vi sia stato un ordine dato dal re Ciro per la costruzione di questa casa a Gerusalemme; e ci trasmetta il re il suo beneplacito a questo riguardo".
