27 E dopo che il re ebbe bruciato il rotolo e le parole che Baruc aveva scritte a dettatura di Geremia, la parola dell’Eterno fu rivolta a Geremia in questi termini:

Jeremiah 36:27

Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah
In the place where he was hid; the Lord knew where he was, for he hid him, and therefore could send his word to him: after the king had burnt the roll;
either with his own hands, or had ordered it to be burnt, or connived at the burning of it: and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah;
hence the Jews ^F21 gather, that when a man sees the book of the law burnt, that he is bound to rend his garments twice; once for the burning of the paper or parchment, and again for the burning of the writing; but no other is meant than the roll, in which the prophecies were written, Baruch took from the mouth of Jeremiah: saying;

25 E benché Elnathan, Delaia e Ghemaria supplicassero il re perché non bruciasse il rotolo, egli non volle dar loro ascolto.

26 E il re ordinò a Jerahmeel, figliuolo del re, a Sesaia figliuolo di Azriel, e a Scelemia figliuolo di Abdeel, di pigliare Baruc, segretario, e il profeta Geremia. Ma l’Eterno li nascose.

28 "Prenditi di nuovo un altro rotolo, e scrivici tutte le parole di prima ch’erano nel primo rotolo, che Joiakim re di Giuda ha bruciato.

29 E riguardo a Joiakim, re di Giuda, tu dirai: Così parla l’Eterno: Tu hai bruciato quel rotolo, dicendo: Perché hai scritto in esso che il re di Babilonia verrà certamente e distruggerà questo paese e farà sì che non vi sarà più né uomo né bestia?
