10 Poiché noi abbiamo udito come l’Eterno asciugò le acque del mar Rosso d’innanzi a voi quando usciste dall’Egitto, e quel che faceste ai due re degli Amorei, di là dal Giordano, Sihon e Og, che votaste allo sterminio.

Joshua 2:10

For we have heard how the Lord dried up the waters of the Red
sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt
To make a passage for them through it, to walk in as on dry land; this they had heard of and remembered, though it was forty years ago:

and what you did unto the kings of the Amorites that [were] on the
other side Jordan:
which were things more recent, done but a few months ago:

Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed;
the history of which see in ( Numbers 21:21-35 ) ; who were destroyed by them under Moses and Joshua their commanders; and Hercules, who is thought to be the same with Joshua, is by Lucian ^F7 called Ogmius, from slaying Og, as is supposed ^F8.

8 Or prima che le spie s’addormentassero, Rahab salì da loro sul tetto,

9 e disse a quegli uomini: "Io so che l’Eterno vi ha dato il paese, che il terrore del vostro nome ci ha invasi, e che tutti gli abitanti del paese hanno perso coraggio davanti a voi.

10 Poiché noi abbiamo udito come l’Eterno asciugò le acque del mar Rosso d’innanzi a voi quando usciste dall’Egitto, e quel che faceste ai due re degli Amorei, di là dal Giordano, Sihon e Og, che votaste allo sterminio.

11 E non appena l’abbiamo udito, il nostro cuore si è strutto e non è più rimasto coraggio in alcuno, per via di voi; poiché l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, e Dio lassù nei cieli e quaggiù sulla terra.

12 Or dunque, vi prego, giuratemi per l’Eterno, giacché vi ho trattati con bontà, che anche voi tratterete con bontà la casa di mio padre;
