Mark 14:34

And saith unto them
The above three disciples;

my soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death:
he was surrounded with sorrow, and it pressed him so hard, and close, on every side, that he was just ready to die with it:

tarry ye here, and watch:
in Matthew it is added, "with me": (See Gill on Matthew 26:38).

33 E prese seco Pietro e Giacomo e Giovanni e cominciò ad essere spaventato ed angosciato.
34 E disse loro: L’anima mia è oppressa da tristezza mortale; rimanete qui e vegliate.
35 E andato un poco innanzi, si gettò a terra; e pregava che, se fosse possibile, quell’ora passasse oltre da lui.
36 E diceva: Abba, Padre! ogni cosa ti è possibile; allontana da me questo calice! Ma pure, non quello che io voglio, ma quello che tu vuoi.
