Save thyself, and come down from the cross.
] Suggesting that if he was what he had pretended to be, and could do what he gave out he could, he might easily free himself from the cross, and make his escape; (See Gill on Matthew 27:39), (See Gill on Matthew 27:40).

30 save yourself, and come down from the cross!"

31 So also the chief priests mocked him to one another with the scribes, saying, "He saved others; he cannot save himself.

32 Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe." Those who were crucified with him also reviled him.
