6 Porque el Señor había hecho que en el campo de los Siros se oyese estruendo de carros, ruido de caballos, y estrépito de grande ejército; y dijéronse los unos á los otros: He aquí el rey de Israel ha pagado contra nosotros á los reyes de los Heteos, y á los reyes de los Egipcios, para que vengan contra nosotros.

2 Kings 7:6

For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise
of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host,
&c.] Or of many armies, as the Targum; either in the air by the ministry of angels; or the Lord so wrought upon their imagination, that they fancied they heard such noises; or he caused such noises in their ears:

and they said one to another, lo, the king of Israel hath hired against
us the kings of the Hittites;
one of the nations of the Canaanites, and may be here put for the whole of those that remained, and who lived upon the borders of the land of Israel; though Josephus ^F25 has it, the kings of the isles; that is, of Chittim, see ( Jeremiah 2:10 )

and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us;
Egypt being now divided into petty kingdoms; or else the governors of the several nomes or districts of it are here meant: for the king of Israel to hire these kings was very unlikely in his present circumstances; but those unreasonable things, in their panic, their imaginations suggested to them.

4 Si tratáremos de entrar en la ciudad, por el hambre que hay en la ciudad moriremos en ella; y si nos quedamos aquí, también moriremos. Vamos pues ahora, y pasémonos al ejército de los Siros: si ellos nos dieren la vida, viviremos; y si nos dieren la muerte, moriremos.

5 Levantáronse pues en el principio de la noche, para irse al campo de los Siros; y llegando á las primeras estancias de los Siros, no había allí hombre.

6 Porque el Señor había hecho que en el campo de los Siros se oyese estruendo de carros, ruido de caballos, y estrépito de grande ejército; y dijéronse los unos á los otros: He aquí el rey de Israel ha pagado contra nosotros á los reyes de los Heteos, y á los reyes de los Egipcios, para que vengan contra nosotros.

7 Y así se habían levantado y huído al principio de la noche, dejando sus tiendas, sus caballos, sus asnos, y el campo como se estaba; y habían huído por salvar las vidas.

8 Y como los leprosos llegaron á las primeras estancias, entráronse en una tienda, y comieron y bebieron, y tomaron de allí plata, y oro, y vestido, y fueron, y escondiéronlo: y vueltos, entraron en otra tienda, y de allí también tomaron, y fueron, y escondieron.
