Proverbios 24:23-34

Listen to Proverbios 24:23-34
23 También estas cosas pertenecen á los sabios. Tener respeto á personas en el juicio no es bueno.
24 El que dijere al malo, Justo eres, Los pueblos lo maldecirán, y le detestarán las naciones:
25 Mas los que lo reprenden, serán agradables, Y sobre ellos vendrá bendición de bien.
26 Besados serán los labios Del que responde palabras rectas.
27 Apresta tu obra de afuera, Y disponla en tu heredad; Y después edificarás tu casa.
28 No seas sin causa testigo contra tu prĂłjimo; Y no lisonjees con tus labios.
29 No digas: Como me hizo, así le haré; Daré el pago al hombre según su obra.
30 Pasé junto á la heredad del hombre perezoso, Y junto á la viña del hombre falto de entendimiento;
31 Y he aquĂ­ que por toda ella habĂ­an ya crecido espinas, Ortigas habĂ­an ya cubierto su haz, Y su cerca de piedra estaba ya destruĂ­da.
32 Y yo miré, y púse lo en mi corazón: Vi lo, y tomé consejo.
33 Un poco de sueño, cabeceando otro poco, Poniendo mano sobre mano otro poco para dormir;
34 Así vendrá como caminante tu necesidad, Y tu pobreza como hombre de escudo.

INTRODUCTION TO 1 KINGS 12

This chapter relates Rehoboam's going to Shechem to be made king, and Jeroboam's return from Egypt, 1Ki 12:1,2, the people's request to Rehoboam to be eased of their taxes, as the condition of making him king, 1Ki 12:3,4, his answer to them, after three days, having had the advice both of the old and young men, which latter he followed, and gave in a rough answer, 1Ki 12:5-15, upon which ten tribes revolted from him, and two abode by him, 1Ki 12:16-20, wherefore he meditated a war against the ten tribes, but was forbid by the Lord to engage in it, 1Ki 12:21-24 and Jeroboam, in order to establish his kingdom, and preserve the people from a revolt to the house of David, because of the temple worship at Jerusalem, devised a scheme of idolatrous worship in his own territories, 1Ki 12:25-33.
