8 Y volvió a hacerse guerra; y salió David y peleó contra los filisteos, y los hirió con gran estrago, y huyeron delante de él.

1 Samuel 19:8

And there was war again
Between Israel and the Philistines; it does not appear that either of them sent out their whole force, only some parties or detachments, between which there were skirmishes:

and David went out and fought with the Philistines;
he went out with his thousand men, over which he was made captain, ( 1 Samuel 18:13 ) ; for he had not the command of the whole army; that belonged to Abner:

and slew them with a great slaughter, and they fled from him;
he killed many of them in his engagements with them, and the rest fled, and he returned victorious; which stirred up the envy and increased the jealousy of Saul, to observe which this is related.

6 Y oyendo Saúl la voz de Jonatán, juró: Vive el SEÑOR, que no morirá.

7 Llamando entonces Jonatán a David, le declaró todas estas palabras; y él mismo trajo a David a Saúl, y estuvo delante de él como había sido el caso tres días antes.

8 Y volvió a hacerse guerra; y salió David y peleó contra los filisteos, y los hirió con gran estrago, y huyeron delante de él.

9 Y el espíritu malo de parte del SEÑOR fue sobre Saúl; y estando sentado en su casa tenía una lanza a mano, mientras David estaba tañendo con su mano.

10 Y Saúl procuró enclavar a David con la lanza en la pared; mas él se apartó de delante de Saúl, el cual hirió con la lanza en la pared; y David huyó, y se escapó aquella noche.
